Combining classifiers for word sense disambiguation based on Dempster-Shafer theory and OWA operators

چکیده
In this paper, we discuss a framework for weighted combination of classifiers for word sense disambiguation (WSD). This framework is essentially based on DempsterShafer theory of evidence (Dempster, 1967; Shafer, 1976) and ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operators (Yager, 1988). We first determine various kinds of features which could provide complementarily linguistic information for the context, and then combine these sources of information based on Dempster’s rule of combination and OWA operators for identifying the meaning of a polysemous word. We experimentally design a set of individual classifiers, each of which corresponds to a distinct representation type of context considered in the WSD literature, and then the discussed combination strategies are tested and compared on English lexical samples of Senseval-2 and Senseval-3.

Adaptively entropy-based weighting classifiers in combination using Dempster-Shafer theory for word sense disambiguation
In this paper we introduce an evidential reasoning based framework for weighted combination of classifiers for word sense disambiguation (WSD). Within this framework, we propose a new way of defining adaptively weights of individual classifiers based on ambiguity measures associated with their decisions with respect to each particular pattern under classification, where the ambiguity measure is...
متن کاملAn Evidential Reasoning Approach to Weighted Combination of Classifiers for Word Sense Disambiguation
Arguing that various ways of using context in word sense disambiguation (WSD) can be considered as distinct representations of a polysemous word, a theoretical framework for the weighted combination of soft decisions generated by experts employing these distinct representations is proposed in this paper. Essentially, this approach is based on the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. By taking th...
متن کاملBuilding ensemble classifiers using belief functions and OWA operators
A pervasive task in many forms of human activity is classification. Recent interest in the classification process has focused on ensemble classifier systems. These types of systems are based on a paradigm of combining the outputs of a number of individual classifiers. In this paper we propose a new approach for obtaining the final output of ensemble classifiers. The method presented here uses t...
متن کاملA Sensor-Based Scheme for Activity Recognition in Smart Homes using Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence
This paper proposes a scheme for activity recognition in sensor based smart homes using Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence. In this work, opinion owners and their belief masses are constructed from sensors and employed in a single-layered inference architecture. The belief masses are calculated using beta probability distribution function. The frames of opinion owners are derived automatically ...
متن کاملDecision Making with Dempster-Shafer Theory of Evidence Using Geometric Operators
We study the problem of decision making with Dempster-Shafer belief structure. We analyze the previous work developed by Yager about using the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the aggregation of the Dempster-Shafer decision process. We discuss the possibility of aggregating with an ascending order in the OWA operator for the cases where the smallest value is the best result. We sugg...
