Classics in space medicine. Examination of "organized elements" from the Orgueil meteorite by quantitative fluorescence microscopy.
نویسنده
چکیده
The organized elements of the Orgueil Meteorite were examined by quantitative fluorescence microscopy. An effort was made to correlate possible morphology with the presence of the amino acid, tyrosine. Relative tyrosine levels were determined by the formation of fluorescent complexes between the tyrosine presem and 1-NITROS O 2-NAPHTHOL. The fluorescence levels produced by the tyrosine-nitroso napthol complexes from lab cultures of microorganisms, microorganisms from peat, and the organized elements of meteorites were compared and used as an index of relative tyrosine content.

A contamination assessment of the CI carbonaceous meteorite Orgueil using a DNAdirected approach
The Orgueil meteorite has become one of the most well-studied carbonaceous meteorites, after it fell in France 150 yr ago. Extraterrestrial organic compounds such as amino acids and nucleobases in the parts per billion ranges were identified in Orgueil samples with supporting isotopic analyses. However, speculations of terrestrial contamination such as organic inclusions in the form of microbes...
متن کاملOptical ActivitY in the Orgueil Meteorite.
Nagy's report of an optical rotation of-0.023 degrees to -0.084 degrees in the Orgueil meteorite has not been confirmed. The highest rotation found in several fatty-acid and hydrocarbon fractions isolated from the meteorite was -0.002 degrees , less than that of optically inactive controls. The "rotations" observed by Nagy may have been caused by scattered depolarized light from colloidal parti...
متن کاملPetrology and geochemistry of whole rock of Shahdad meteorites
In this study, meteorite pieces, with total weight of 259 grams, have been studied which is not listed in the world bulletin of meteorites. In order to classify these samples, after preparing microscopic thin sections and performing accurate petrography, using geochemical data of the major elements and trace elements of whole rock, obtained from XRF and ICPMS methods in Zarazma company’s labora...
متن کاملEnrichment of the amino acid L-isovaline by aqueous alteration on CI and CM meteorite parent bodies.
The distribution and enantiomeric composition of the 5-carbon (C(5)) amino acids found in CI-, CM-, and CR-type carbonaceous meteorites were investigated by using liquid chromatography fluorescence detection/TOF-MS coupled with o-phthaldialdehyde/N-acetyl-L-cysteine derivatization. A large L-enantiomeric excess (ee) of the alpha-methyl amino acid isovaline was found in the CM meteorite Murchiso...
متن کاملThe effect of pyridine treatment on phase Q: Orgueil and Allende
Marrocchi et al. (2005) reported that low-temperature fractions of heavy noble gases were largely removed upon pyridine treatment of the Orgueil CI meteorite. As pyridine is known to induce the swelling of the macromolecular network of organic matter, they concluded that the low-temperature phase Q is macromolecular organic carbon. However, Busemann et al. (2008) showed that pyridine had no sig...
