چکیده

w o a h c l q s 6 s h c u h r h m s w t f o m t w t f b The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) Technology Committee provides reviews of existing, new, or emerging endoscopic technologies that have an impact on the practice of GI endoscopy. Evidencebased methodology is used, with a MEDLINE literature search to identify pertinent clinical studies on the topic and a MAUDE (U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Devices and Radiological Health) database search to identify the reported adverse events of a given technology. Both are supplemented by accessing the “related articles” feature of PubMed and by scrutinizing pertinent references cited by the identified studies. Controlled clinical trials are emphasized, but in many cases, data from randomized, controlled trials are lacking. In such cases, large case series, preliminary clinical studies, and expert opinions are used. Technical data are gathered from traditional and Web-based publications, proprietary publications, and informal communications with pertinent vendors. Technology Status Evaluation Reports are drafted by 1 or 2 members of the ASGE Technology Committee, reviewed and edited by the committee as a whole, and approved by the Governing Board of the ASGE. When financial guidance is indicated, the most recent coding data and list prices at the time of publication are provided. For this review, the MEDLINE database was searched through January 2012 for articles related to monitoring equipment for endoscopy. Technology Status Evaluation Reports are scientific reviews provided solely for educational and informational purposes. Technology Status Evaluation Reports are not rules and should not be construed as establishing a legal standard of care or as encouraging, advocating, requiring, or discouraging any particular treatment or payment for such treatment.

Rinse water for heat labile endoscopy equipment.

The increase in use of endoscopic procedures in diagnosis and surgical treatment has underlined the need for safe cleaning methods for these instruments. While decontamination has been reviewed by several Working Groups in Britain, the problems relating to the prevention of contamination of rinse water and its monitoring procedures have not been addressed previously. This report from the Joint ...

Biomonitoring with wireless communications.

Wireless biomonitoring, first used in human beings for fetal heart-rate monitoring more than 30 years ago, has now become a technology for remote sensing of patients' activity, blood pulse pressure, oxygen saturation, internal pressures, orthopedic device loading, and gastrointestinal endoscopy. Technical advances in miniaturization and wireless communications have enabled development of monito...

فاکتورهای پیش بینی کننده کاهش اشباع اکسیژن خون شریانی در طی آندوسکوپی فوقانی در بیماران بدون دریافت داروی آرامبخش

Introduction: Hypoxemia can occur during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy with or without pharmacological sedation. Pulse oximetry saturation (SpO2) levels were assessed in patients attending for routine unsedated diagnostic upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to identify factors associated with oxygen desaturation. Methods: A total of 300 patients who underwent upper gastrointestinal endoscopy w...

Emergencies and treatment of complications.

Sedation for gastrointestinal endoscopy may induce central respiratory depression and/or airway obstruction. Early diagnosis and treatment of these complications is mandatory as the resulting hypoxia may cause irreversible damage, particularly to vital organs, or death. Sedatives and centrally acting analgesics depress respiration in a dose-dependent manner. However, significant untoward events...
