چکیده

Barium (Ba) with CAS number 513-77-9 and atomic number 56 is a soft silvery metallic alkaline earth metal. It has a high chemical reactivity and is never found in nature as a free element. It is highly toxic upon acute and chronic exposures (Bhoelan et al., 2014). Barium has been tested for its toxicity in different studies (Llugany et al., 2000; Langdon, 1994; Akinfieva and Gerasimova, 1984). Some studies have been conducted on rats and mice to assess the toxicity of barium and its compounds (Constant et al., 1996; Dietz et al., 1992). Various naturally occurring barium compounds include barium nitrate [Ba(NO3)2], barium chloride (BaCl2) and barium carbonate (BaCO3). It has been found that toxicity of barium compounds depends upon their solubility (Gad, 2014). Water soluble barium compounds are found to be poisonous and more toxic as compared to insoluble forms. Insoluble barium compounds have been found to cause baritosis, a benign condition which occurs because of their accumulation in the lungs. Morphology of Female Reproductive Organs of Fleshfly, Sarcophaga Ruficornis Fabr. (diptera: Sarcophagidae)

The female reproductive organs of Sarcophaga ruficornis F. (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) consists of paired ovaries, lateral oviducts, a common oviduct, three spermathecae and paired accessory glands. Each ovary is formed of about 45-53 polytrophic ovarioles. The epithelium of lateral oviduct is formed of syncytial cells overlaid by longitudinal and circular muscle fibers. The common oviduct has syn...

Identification of forensically important sarcophagidae (Diptera) by DNA- based method coupled with morphological characteristics

The Sarcophagidae, besides the Calliphoridae, are considered as forensically important insects for investigating postmortem interval (PMI), however, often be neglected. Using decomposing pig bodies with various postmortem intervals, we identified 47 sarcophagid flies from hundreds of fly specimens collected at several Taiwan areas. Species diversity of the sarcophagid flies was further studied ...

Effect of precocene on development of ovarian follicles in flesh fly, Sarcophaga ruficornis F.

Administration of precocene II (6,7-dimethoxy-2, 2-dimethyl chromene) to freshly emerged virgin female flies of S. ruficornis adversely affected the development and differentiation of ovarian follicles leading to a number of morphological abnormalities. Precocene treatment resulted into suppression of development of egg chamber, differentiation of follicular epithelium, degeneration of nurse ce...

Comparative morphology of early stages of two Mediterranean Sarcophaga Meigen, 1826 (Diptera; Sarcophagidae) and a review of the feeding habits of Palaearctic species.

The third instar larva of Sarcophaga hirticrus Pandellé, 1896 and Sarcophaga javita (Peris, González-Mora and Mingo, 1998) are described and figured for the first. The use of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) has been demonstrated as an effective tool for determining differences at the specific level, and is here applied. The two species are distinguished from other Sarcophaga spp. and the pri...
