Scheduling equal-length jobs on identical parallel machines
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the situation where a set of n jobs with release dates and equal processing times have to be scheduled on m identical parallel machines. We show that, if the objective function can be expressed as the sum of n functions fi of the completion time Ci of each job Ji, the problem can be solved in polynomial time for any fixed value of m. The only restriction is that functions fi have to be non-decreasing and that for any pair of jobs (Ji, Jj), the function fi − fj has to be monotonous. This assumption holds for several standard scheduling objectives, such as the weighted sum of completion times or the total tardiness. Hence, the problems (Pm|pi = p, ri| ∑ wiCi) and (Pm|pi = p, ri| ∑ Ti) are polynomially solvable.

Multi-Objective Unrelated Parallel Machines Scheduling with Sequence-Dependent Setup Times and Precedence Constraints
This paper presents a novel, multi-objective model of a parallel machines scheduling problem that minimizes the number of tardy jobs and total completion time of all jobs. In this model, machines are considered as unrelated parallel units with different speeds. In addition, there is some precedence, relating the jobs with non-identical due dates and their ready times. Sequence-dependent setup t...

This paper considers a scheduling problem of a set of independent jobs on unrelated parallel machines (UPMs) that minimizesthe maximum completion time (i.e., makespan or ), maximum earliness ( ), and maximum tardiness ( ) simultaneously. Jobs have non-identical due dates, sequence-dependent setup times and machine-dependentprocessing times. A multi-objective mixed-integer linear programmi...
متن کاملOn-line scheduling of two parallel machines with a single server
In this paper, we consider the on-line scheduling of two parallel identical machines sharing a single server with the objective of minimizing the latest completion time of all jobs. Each job has to be setup by the server before being processed on one of the machines. Three special cases: equal length jobs, equal processing times and regular equal setup times are considered and the asymptotic co...
متن کاملFlexible flowshop scheduling with equal number of unrelated parallel machines
This article addresses a multi-stage flowshop scheduling problem with equal number of unrelated parallel machines. The objective is to minimize the makespan for a given set of jobs in the system. This problem class is NP-hard in the strong sense, so a hybrid heuristic method for sequencing and then allocating operations of jobs to machines is developed. A number of test problems are randomly ge...
