Correlation between Capacitance and Dissipation Factor used for Assessment of Stator Insulation

چکیده
about internal defects within the insulation. The index k is defined as the proportionality constant between the changes at high voltage of capacitance ∆C and of the dissipation factor ∆tanδ . ∆C and ∆tanδ values were highly correlated when small flat defects were within the insulation and that correlation was lost in the presence of large narrow defects like electrical treeing. The discrimination between small and large defects is made resorting to partial discharge PD phase angle analysis. For the validation of the results, C and tanδ measurements were carried out in a 15MVA 4160V steam turbine turbogenerator placed in a sugar mill. In addition, laboratory test results obtained by other authors were analyzed jointly. In such laboratory tests, model coil bars subjected to thermal cycling resulted highly degraded and ∆C and ∆tanδ values were not correlated. Thus, the index k could not be calculated.

Study of Aging Characteristics of Generator Stator Insulation Based on Temperature Spectrum of Dielectric Dissipation Factor
In this paper, accelerated multi-factor aging tests in laboratory have been conducted on the stator ham of a large generator. During the period of aging, the temperature spectra of dielectric dissipation factor tan 6 of stator insulation were employed to investigate aging characteristics of insulation materials. Test results showed that the peak temperature T,,, of the tan 6 -T curve under 0.2U...

In design of a parallel resonant induction heating system, choosing a proper capacitancefor the resonant circuit is quite important. The capacitance affects the resonant frequency, outputpower, Q-factor, heating efficiency and power factor. In this paper, the role of equivalent seriesresistance (ESR) in the choice of capacitance is significantly recognized. Optimal value of resonancecapacitor i...

For evaluating quality of electrical insulation, it is necessary to measure the property of insulators. Dielectric constant and loss tangent (tans) are two important parameters for determining the property of insulator. The measurement of above parameters is normally based on the time- domain and frequency-domain, which is costly and time consuming. In this study a multiple-frequency binary se...
متن کاملPrognostics of Embedded Planar Capacitors under Temperature and Voltage Aging
This paper presents the application of model-based and data-driven approaches for prognostics and health management (PHM) of embedded planar capacitors under elevated temperature and voltage conditions. An embedded planar capacitor is a thin laminate that serves both as a power/ground plane and as a parallel plate capacitor in a multilayered printed wiring board (PWB). These capacitors are typi...
