چکیده

The Hubbard model is a “highly oversimplified model” for electrons in a solid which interact with each other through extremely short ranged repulsive (Coulomb) interaction. The Hamiltonian of the Hubbard model consists of two pieces; Hhop which describes quantum mechanical hopping of electrons, and Hint which describes nonlinear repulsive interaction. Either Hhop or Hint alone is easy to analyze, and does not favor any specific order. But their sum H = Hhop + Hint is believed to exhibit various nontrivial phenomena including metal-insulator transition, antiferromagnetism, ferrimagnetism, ferromagnetism, Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid, and superconductivity. It is believed that we can find various interesting “universality classes” of strongly interacting electron systems by studying the idealized Hubbard model. In the present article we review some mathematically rigorous results on the Hubbard model which shed light on “physics” of this fascinating model. We mainly concentrate on magnetic properties of the model at its ground states. We discuss Lieb-Mattis theorem on the absence of ferromagnetism in one dimension, Koma-Tasaki bounds on decay of correlations at finite temperatures in two-dimensions, Yamanaka-OshikawaAffleck theorem on low-lying excitations in one-dimension, Lieb’s important theorem for half-filled model on a bipartite lattice, Kubo-Kishi bounds on the charge and superconducting susceptibilities of half-filled models at finite temperatures, and three rigorous examples of saturated ferromagnetism due to Nagaoka, Mielke, and Tasaki. We have tried to make the article accessible to nonexperts by describing basic definitions and elementary materials in detail.

The two–dimensional (2D) t–t’–Hubbard model is studied within the slave–boson (SB) theory. At half–filling, a paramagnetic to antiferromagnetic phase transition of first order at a finite critical interaction strength Uc(t /t) is found. The dependences on U/t and t/t of the sublattice magnetization and of the local magnetic moment are calculated. Our results reasonably agree with recent (Projec...

We draw some rigorous conclusions about the functional properties of the μ − ρ relation in the Hubbard model based on symmetry considerations and unitary transformations. It is shown that the charge susceptibility reaches its local extreme at half-filling. Exact expressions are obtained in two limiting cases. PACS number(s): 75.10.Lp,71.20.Ad,74.65.+n,74.20.Mn

We exhibit explicitly the intertwiner operator for the monodromy matrices of the recent proposed SU (N) Hubbard model [5]. This produces a new family of non-additive R-matrices and generalizes an earlier result by Shastry [2].

A general introduction to the anyon model (braid group, Chern-Simons Lagrangian and Aharonov-Bohm Hamiltonian formulations) is given. A review follows on exact results and possible ways of getting additional information, as mean field approach, perturbation theory, and projection on the lowest Landau level of an external magnetic field.
