Superconductive Test Cavity for the Ess

چکیده
Measurements at the prototype cavity were performed at the FZJ Jülich in order to support the design work of the SC accelerator part for the European Spallation Source (ESS) [1]. A shielded test facility has been constructed providing 25kW peak RF power operating at 500MHz [2]. The test cavity has been fabricated at ACCEL Instruments and was installed into the shielded area. This 5-cell cavity has been designed to a β value of 0.75 at an accelerating field of Eacc > 5MV/m with Q0=2×10 , operating at 4.2K. We have developed a cavity control circuit based on a fast analogue phase-lock loop allowing automated measurements. The first quasi static measurements using a 500W broadband amplifier almost verified the design values of Q0 and Eacc. The piezoelectric tuning system was used to record the spectrum of mechanical resonances of the cavity. A comparison of several computer simulations with measured results is presented. Furthermore, we have taken dynamical data of the Lorentz force detuning during pulsed-mode operation at a repetition rate of 50Hz. First results achieved with an active compensation of the Lorentz force detuning using the fast piezo frequency control system are also presented. 1 OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS The first RF measurements were done during the acceptance tests of the cavity. We took the Qo-Eacc curve (Fig. 1) at nearly critical coupling in order to measure Q0 as accurate as possible. 1,0E+08 1,0E+09 1,0E+10

The cells of one Medium and one High beta cavity are fabricated with high quality CBMM Large Grain Niobium (480 mm dia. Ingot, RRR=300, sliced by Heraeus) while a Medium beta cavity is ...
متن کاملCold Cavity BPM R&D for the ILC
A cold L-Band cavity BPM for installation in a SCRF cryomodule is currently under development at Fermilab. The BPM has to meet the ILC BPM specifications, i.e. < 1 μm single bunch, single pass resolution, going along with sufficient accuracy and reproducibility. Real estate limitations and the superconductive RF environment require some special considerations for this design.
متن کاملBilateral Endoscopic Medial Maxillectomy for Bilateral Inverted Papilloma
Inverted papilloma (IP) is a benign tumor of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses that is unilateral in most cases. Bilateral IP, involving both sides of the nasal cavity and sinuses, is extremely rare. This paper describes a large IP that filled in both sides of the nasal cavity and sinuses, mimicking association with malignancy. The tumor was successfully treated by bilateral endoscopic med...

متن کاملUsing Dynamic Thermal Rating and Energy Storage Systems Technologies Simultaneously for Optimal Integration and Utilization of Renewable Energy Sources
Nowadays, optimal integration and utilization of renewable energy sources (RES) are of the most challenging issues in power systems. The wind and solar generation units' maximum production may or may not occur at peak consumption times resulting in non-optimal utilization of these resources. As a solution to this problem, energy storage systems (ESS) are embedded in networks. However, the power...
