A miniscrew system with interchangeable abutments.

چکیده
JCO/OCTOBER 2008 O miniscrews have become increasingly popular in recent years because of their versatility, minimal invasiveness, and low cost. The effectiveness of conventional miniscrew systems is limited, however, by the lack of a stable connection to the orthodontic appliance. The Straumann Orthosystem* addresses this problem with a cap or abutment that can be fixed to the implant. The system can be used as anchorage for distalization of the maxillary molars or for mesial space closure, but is more costly than conventional miniscrews in terms of both direct expense and chairtime. Moreover, a three-month healing period is recommended after placement of an Orthosystem implant before force loading. As an alternative, we developed the Benefit** miniimplant system with interchangeable abutments (Fig. 1).

متن کاملScrew loosening with interchangeable abutments in internally connected implants after cyclic loading.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to observe and compare any loosening of screws attaching several interchangeable abutments to internally connected implants after cyclic loading. MATERIALS AND METHODS Four different abutment groups mated with Straumann single-stage transmucosal implants (n = 7 each group) were assessed: Straumann solid abutment, Restore COC abutment, Neoplant solid abutm...
متن کاملEffect of Abutment Connection Type and Cyclic Loading on Removal Torque Value
Background and Aim: Maintaining the primary torque of the abutment screw is a common problem related to implant-supported restorations; a failure in this respect often leads to screw loosening. The abutment screw plays a critical role in the long-term stability of restorations. This study aimed to assess the effect of two abutment connection types with and without cyclic loading on removal torq...
متن کاملEvaluation of primary stability of innovated orthodontic miniscrew system (STS): An ex-vivo study
BACKGROUND Stability is determined as one of the requirements in use of Temporary Anchorage Devices (TAD) in orthodontics. Miniscrew has been a widely used Bone Anchor. Compared with mini-implant that necessitates osseointegration; mechanical retention is a determining factor for primary stability of miniscrew. Studies investigated various ways to increase primary stability. The aim of this stu...
متن کاملEffect of force on alveolar bone surrounding miniscrew implants: a 3-dimensional microcomputed tomography study.
INTRODUCTION The primary aim of this study was to better understand how bone adapts to forces applied to miniscrew implants. A secondary aim was to determine whether the direction of force applied to miniscrew implants has an effect on bone surrounding the miniscrew implants. METHODS A randomized split-mouth design, applied to 6 skeletally mature male foxhound dogs, was used to compare minisc...
