چکیده

General limits on the cosmological constant (or equivalently the vacuum energy density) are derived for an inflationary universe. This is accomplished under the general assumption of global hyperbolicity and without the use of any special properties like spherical symmetry or homogeneity ofthe underlying spacetime. A clear upper limit of 1/3 is obtained for the vacuum energy density parameterQ~, while the lower limit is found to depend on the age of the oldest object in the universe.

Vacuum Energy and Universe in Special Relativity

The problem of cosmological constant and vacuum energy is usually thought of as the subject of general relativity. However, the vacuum energy is important for the Universe even in the absence of gravity , i.e. in the case when the Newton constant G is exactly zero, G = 0. We discuss the response of the vacuum energy to the perturbations of the quantum vacuum in special relativity, and find that...

Black Holes in de Sitter Space : Masses , Energies and Entropy Bounds

In this paper we consider spacetimes in vacuum general relativity —possibly coupled to a scalar field— with a positive cosmological constant Λ. We employ the Isolated Horizons (IH) formalism where the boundary conditions imposed are that of two horizons, one of black hole type and the other, serving as outer boundary, a cosmological horizon. As particular cases, we consider the Schwarzschild-de...

Stress- Energy Tensor for Parallel Plate on Background of Conformally Flat Brane-World Geometries and Cosmological Constant Problem

In this paper, we calculate the stress-energy tensor for a quantized massless conformally coupled scalar field in the background of a conformally flat brane-world geometries, where the scalar field satisfying Robin boundary conditions on two parallel plates. In the general case of Robin boundary conditions formula are derived for the vacuum expectation values of the energy-momentum tensor. Furt...

Possible Effects of a Cosmological Constant on Black Hole Evolution

We explore possible effects of vacuum energy on the evolution of black holes. If the universe contains a cosmological constant, and if black holes can absorb energy from the vacuum, then black hole evaporation could be greatly suppressed. For the magnitude of the cosmological constant suggested by current observations, black holes larger than ∼ 4× 10 g would accrete energy rather than evaporate...

Contribution of Kaluza-Klein modes to vacuum energy in models with large extra dimensions & the Cosmological constant

In this paper, the generation of topological energy in models with large extra dimensions is investigated. The origin of this energy is attributed to a topological deformation of the standard Minkowski vacuum due to compactification of extra dimensions. This deformation is seen to give rise to an effective, finite energy density due to massive Kaluza-Klein modes of gravitation. It’s renormalize...
