Pneumomediastinum following high pressure air injection to the hand.
We present the case of a patient who developed pneumomediastinum after high pressure air injection to the hand. To our knowledge this is the first reported case of pneumomediastinum where the gas injection site was the thenar eminence. Fortunately the patient recovered with conservative management.
متن کاملNeonatal Pneumomediastinum, Spinnaker-Sail Sign: A Case Report and Review of the Literature
Background: Pneumomediastinum (PM) occurring in approximately 0.1% of neonates is an asymptomatic accumulation of free air in the mediastinum. In this paper, we report on a preterm newborn experiencing a significant spontaneous pneumomediastinum subsequent to an uneventful vaginal delivery in the absence of resuscitation maneuvers. Case presentation:A-2560 g-ma...
متن کاملIatrogenic subcutaneous cervicofacial emphysema with pneumomediastinum after class V restoration
Subcutaneous facial emphysema after dental treatment is an uncommon complication caused by the invasion of high-pressure air; in severe cases, it can spread to the neck, mediastinum, and thorax, resulting in cervical emphysema, pneumomediastinum, and pneumothorax. The present case showed subcutaneous cervicofacial emphysema with pneumomediastinum after class V restoration. The patient was fully...
متن کاملPneumomediastinum after cocaine use: an unusual aetiology
We describe an interesting case of pneumomediastinum secondary to cocaine abuse. The patient presented with severe chest pain following nasal inhalation of a large quantity of cocaine. Investigations revealed no chest injury; however oesophagitis was proven leading to a possible aetiology of oesophageal microperforation. After conservative management there was spontaneous resolution of the pneu...
متن کاملEpidural pneumatosis associated with spontaneous pneumomediastinum.
We read with much interest the article by S.J. Willing ( 1) that appeared in AJNR in 1991. The author states that epidural pneumatosis is commonly seen in trauma patients and that since computed tomography (CT) scans are seldom performed in spontaneous pneumomediastinum, a similar case has not been reported in the literature. Yoshimura, et al demonstrated the occurrence of epidural pneumatosis ...
