Diagnosis of Diabetes Using OLAP and Data Mining Integration

The data collected by medical and healthcare industry is not turned into useful information for effective decision making. Advanced technologies such as OnLine Analytical Processing (OLAP) and data mining can be used by the Decision support systems (DSS) to deliver advanced capabilities. This paper presents a decision support system which combines the strengths of both OLAP and data mining. The system will predict the future state and generate useful information for effective decision-making. With data mining, doctors can predict patients who might be diagnosed with diabetes. OLAP provides a focused answer using historical data of concerned patients. The system also compares the result of the ID3 and C4.5 decision tree algorithms.
