چکیده

A modification of the method of Fishman, Springer, and Brunetti (1948) for determining serum beta-glucuronidase activity is described. Normal values are presented and some of the factors which might influence the serum enzyme determination have been investigated.

Serum Beta-glucuronidase Determination in Normal Subjects and in Neurological and Mental Patients; a Provisional Report.

Using the method given by GOLDSTEIN (1961)9 for the determination of serum beta-glucuronidase activity, this value was determined in both normal and patients with epilepsy, neuroses, psychoses and multiple sclerosis. Of the patient groups examined, the group of those suffering from epilepsy is the only one showing any difference of statistical significance for all four methods of determination....

An automated determination of beta-glucuronidase activity in human serum with the Abbot VP bichromatic analyzer

The determination of serum beta-glucuronidase (b-Dglucuronide glucuronohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.31) is of clinical interest because it can be used in the diagnosis of several pathological conditions. Serum levels of betaglucuronidase are increased in patients with such conditions as neopalms [1], diabetes mellitus [2 and 3], in pregnant women and in gestational diabetes [4], atherosclerotic disease ...

A note on the determination of beta-glucuronidase activity in urine.

Interest in urinary 8i-glucuronidase has recently developed from the work of Boyland, Wallace, and Williams (1955), who found high levels of this enzyme in the urine of patients with carcinoma of the bladder. The method used by these authors was modified from that of Talalay, Fishman, and Huggins (1946). After a careful study of the following points, however, it was found necessary to reinvesti...

DETERMINATION OF SERUM LIPOPROTEINS IN BETA-THALASSEMIA TRAIT AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO CHRONIC HEMOLYSIS

100 patients with beta-thalassemia trait, comprised of 55 men and 45 women, participated in a study to measure serum lipoproteins. The results were compared with the data obtained from 100 control subjects of the same age and sex. A significantly lower level of mean serum total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, and a much higher level of HDL cholesterol were obtained in beta-thalassemia trai...

Failure of urinary beta-glucuronidase activity to localize the site of urinary tract infection.

The differentiation of renal from bladder bacteriuria is difficult on clinical grounds alone. To evaluate the correlation between site of infection and urinary beta-glucuronidase activity, 46 patients with well documented recurrent bacteriuria were studied by bilateral ureteral catheterization. Urinary beta-glucuronidase activity was also determined in 46 control subjects. In general, asymptoma...
