Asymptotic results on a class of adaptive multi-treatment designs

چکیده
The play-the-winner (PW) rule is an important method in clinical trials where patients can be assigned to one of the two treatments. In the PW rule, the probability of the next patient to be assigned to a particular treatment only depends on the response of the current patient. In this paper, we consider a general kind of PW rule for multi-treatment adaptive designs, in which the probability that a treatment is assigned to the next patient depends upon both the response of the previous patient and an estimated parameter, e.g., the observed success rate. Using this kind of adaptive designs, more information of previous stages are used to update the model at each stage, andmore patients may be assigned to better treatments. The strong consistency and the asymptotic normality are established for the allocation proportions. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. Asymptotic properties of the sample mean in adaptive sequential sampling with multiple selection criteria
We extend the method of adaptive two-stage sequential sampling toinclude designs where there is more than one criteria is used indeciding on the allocation of additional sampling effort. Thesecriteria, or conditions, can be a measure of the targetpopulation, or a measure of some related population. We developMurthy estimator for the design that is unbiased estimators fort...
متن کاملStrong Approximations of Martingale Vectors and Their Applications in Markov-Chain Adaptive Designs
The strong approximations of a class of R-valued martingales are considered. The conditions used in this paper are easier to check than those used in [3] and [9]. As an application, the strong approximation of a class of non-homogenous Markov chains is established, and the asymptotic properties are established for the multi-treatment Markov chain adaptive designs in clinical trials.
متن کاملAsymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks
This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...
متن کاملAdaptive Consensus Control for a Class of Non-affine MIMO Strict-Feedback Multi-Agent Systems with Time Delay
In this paper, the design of a distributed adaptive controller for a class of unknown non-affine MIMO strict-feedback multi agent systems with time delay has been performed under a directed graph. The controller design is based on dynamic surface control method. In the design process, radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) were employed to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions. S...
متن کاملAdaptive Distributed Consensus Control for a Class of Heterogeneous and Uncertain Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems
This paper has been devoted to the design of a distributed consensus control for a class of uncertain nonlinear multi-agent systems in the strict-feedback form. The communication between the agents has been described by a directed graph. Radial-basis function neural networks have been used for the approximation of the uncertain and heterogeneous dynamics of the followers as well as the effect o...
