Transient systolic hypertension after aortic valve replacement.

چکیده
Transient systolic hypertension, particularly during the 6 hours after operation, was found to be a significant complication in a series of33 consecutive cases ofaortic valve replacement. This rise in systolic blood pressure occurred in spite of treatment and was more common in cases ofpredominant aortic stenosis. It was not found after mitral valve replacement and there was no difference be; tween the mitral and aortic groups 3 weeks after operation. We believe that the hypertension is due to an increase in peripheral vascular resistance in the postoperative period in patients with a powerful left ventricle.

Three Different Imaging Modalities of a Patient with the Aortic Coarctation
The patient was a 19 year-old woman with the diagnosis of resistant hypertension, although she was under treatment of three classes of anti-hypertensive drugs (beta blocker, angiotensin receptor blocker, diuretic) for more than one year. In physical examination there was only a significant difference between the systolic blood pressure of upper and lower extremities (200 vs. 120 mmHg), without ...
متن کاملHypertension in aortic valve disease and its response to valve replacement.
We have investigated the prevalence of hypertension and the response of blood pressure to operation in 87 patients with lone aortic valve disease who underwent aortic valve replacement. In patients with aortic stenosis alone 26% were hypertensive pre-operatively (age and sex adjusted blood pressure greater than 160 systolic and or greater than 95 mmHg diastolic) and 24% were hypertensive post-o...
متن کامل[Left ventricular adaptive response after surgery of aortic valve replacement for severe valvular stenosis].
BACKGROUND Myocardial hypertrophy is a compensatory mechanism in patients with severe aortic stenosis. The left ventricle fits the systolic pressure through a hypertrophic process with increased wall thickness. The effects of elevated ventricular afterload reduce ventricular myocardial elasticity and decrease coronary flow with increased myocardial work, oxygen consumption, and mortality. Aorti...

Although classic and standard procedure for patients with ascending Aorta aneurysm with Sever aortic Regurgitation is Bentall surgery but in some selected cases this complex surgery was not performed with different reason like advanced age and coexisting comorbidity involving renal and hepatic and lung Function. In our cases 75 years old man with chronic renal failure ( Cr= 3.2 ) who was known ...
متن کاملPersistence of Severe Pulmonary Hypertension After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement: Incidence and Prognostic Impact.
BACKGROUND Severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) is considered to negatively affect the outcome after transcatheter aortic valve replacement. However, a clear understanding of the pattern, evolution, and clinical impact of different grades of PH in this setting is lacking. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 990 consecutive patients were enrolled in 6 high-volume centers and analyzed as follows: grou...
