چکیده

The transfer mechanism of an amphoteric rhodamine, sulforhodamine 101 (SR101), across the polarized water/1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface was investigated using cyclic voltammetry, differential voltfluorometry and potential-modulated fluorescence (PMF) spectroscopy. The voltammetric response for the ion transfer of SR101 monoanion from water to DCE was observed as the diffusion-controlled transfer process. An unusual voltammetric response was found at 0.15 V more negative than the formal transfer potential of SR101(-) (deltaW(O)phi degrees') in the cyclic voltammogram and voltfluorogram. The frequency dependence of the PMF responses confirmed the presence of the adsorption processes at negative potentials. In addition, a further transient adsorption step was uncovered at deltaW(O)phi degrees'. The interfacial mechanism of SR101 is discussed by comparing the results obtained from each technique.

Spectroelectrochemical characterization of dendrimer-porphyrin associates at polarized liquid|liquid interfaces.

Molecular encapsulation of anionic porphyrins in NH2-terminated polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers and the interfacial behavior of the dendrimer-porphyrin associates were studied at the polarized water|1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface. Formation of the ion associates was significantly dependent on the pH condition and on generation of dendrimers. 5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin...

An Experimental Investigation of Water Effects on Asphaltene Surface Behavior through Interfacial Tension Measurements

As a physiochemical property, asphaltenes are known to be one the most surface active compounds in crude oil. Due to such property, their behavior is most probably influenced by fluid-fluid interactions at the contact surface (interface). Potentially and naturally, in most cases, water is in contact with crude oil and is co-produced with it as well. Considering that asphaltene molecules are pol...

Proton pump for O2 reduction catalyzed by 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinatocobalt(II).

The role of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinatocobalt(II) ([Co(tpp)]) as a catalyst on molecular oxygen (O(2)) reduction by ferrocene (Fc) and its two derivatives, 1,1'-dimethylferrocene (DFc) and decamethylferrocene (DMFc) at a polarized water|1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface has been studied. The water|DCE interface essentially acts as a proton pump controlled by the Galvani potential differ...

Photocurrents at polarized liquid|liquid interfaces enhanced by a gold nanoparticle film.

Photocurrent responses associated with the interfacial quenching of the photo-excited water-soluble zinc meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (ZnTPPC) by ferrocene have been studied at a water|1,2-dichloroethane interface in the absence and in the presence of adsorbed gold nanoparticles. Upon addition of methanol, a mirror-like gold film is formed and an important enhancement of the photocurren...
