Systemic circulatory response to stress of simulated flight and to physical exercise before and after propranolol blockade.

چکیده
Stress can induce profound responses in the cardiovascular system. In such situations increased systemic blood pressure and flow have been observed (Groilman, 1929; Stead et al., 1945; Hickam, Cargill, and Golden, 1948; Stevenson, Duncan, and Wolff, 1949; Wolf et al., 1955). Much of our further knowledge of the responses to emotional stimuli on central and regional hamodynamics in man has been summarized by Brod (1963). In most investigations the experimental situations and environments cannot be considered representative of day-to-day stressful occurrences. For example, most often stimuli such as mental arith-

The effect of garlic supplementation on indices of blood oxidative stress response after an incremental resistance exercise
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the effect of garlic supplementation on oxidative stress markers (AST, ALT, LDH, and CPK) following progressive resistance exercise. Methods: This research was a double-blind clinical trial with repeated measures. After obtaining informed consent, 20 sedentary females participated in this study (age: 23.15±2.65 years, BMI: 22.93±1.25 kg.m2). They w...
متن کاملComparative haemodynamic dose response effects of propranolol and labetalol in coronary heart disease.
The immediate haemodynamic dose response effects of beta blockade (propranolol: 2 to 16 mg) were compared with those of combined alpha beta blockade (labetalol: 10 to 80 mg) in a randomised study of 20 patients with stable angina pectoris. After control measurements, the circulatory changes induced by four logarithmically cumulative intravenous boluses of each drug in equivalent beta blocking d...
متن کاملThe Effect ofSilybummarianumConsumption along with a Period of Increasing Exercises onthe Oxidative Response to an Acute Exercise Session in Young Wrestlers
Background and Objectives: Intense exercise results in the production of free radicals and damage caused by oxidative stress. In this regard, the present study aimed to investigate the effect of Silybummarianum consumption along with a period of increasing exercises on the oxidative response to an acute exercise session in young wrestlers. Methods: A total of 20well-exercised wrestlers, were...
متن کاملCoronary responses to cold air inhalation following afferent and efferent blockade.
Cardiac ischemia and angina pectoris are commonly experienced during exertion in a cold environment. In the current study we tested the hypotheses that oropharyngeal afferent blockade (i.e., local anesthesia of the upper airway with lidocaine) as well as systemic β-adrenergic receptor blockade (i.e., intravenous propranolol) would improve the balance between myocardial oxygen supply and demand ...
متن کاملEffect of beta blockade on exercise response after cardiac transplantation.
Six cardiac transplant recipients underwent maximal exercise testing before and after the administration of intravenous propranolol to assess the effect of beta blockade on their exercise heart rate response and exercise capacity. Before propranolol the patients were capable of a mean of 6.8 minutes of exercise and heart rate increased from a resting value of 102 +/- 25 a minute to 138 +/- 34 a...
