High Speed Data Transmission over GI-MMF Using Mode Group Division Multiplexing
نویسندگان
چکیده
— We transmitted 4x28 Gbit/s over 5-km standard GI-MMF using four different mode groups in combination with direct detection and on-off-keying format (OOK). Due to the square-law detection in the receiver MIMO processing is not effective. Therefore proper mode group selective multiplexing and de-multiplexing is essential.

Near-field intensity pattern at the output of silica-based graded-index multimode fibers under selective excitation with a single-mode fiber.
Selective excitation of graded-index multimode fibers (GI-MMFs) with a single-mode fiber (SMF) has gained increased interest for telecommunication applications. It has been proposed as a way to enhance the transmission bandwidth of GI-MMF links and/or create parallel communication channels over the same GI-MMF. Although the effect of SMF excitation on the transmission bandwidth has been investi...

Future Internet should be able to support a wide range of services containing large amount of multimedia over different network types at a high speed. The future optical networks will therefore be hybrid, composed of different single-mode fibre (SMF), multi-mode fibre (MMF) and free-space optical (FSO) links. In these networks, novel modulation and coding techniques are needed that are capable ...
متن کاملToward Terabit-per-Second Capacities Over Multimode Fiber Links Using SCM/WDM Techniques
This paper outlines the progress made on the use of subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) for high-speed datacommunications links over multimode fiber. Results include the demonstration of penalty-free transmission of 2.5 Gb/s data over worst case multimode fiber (MMF). A complete link demonstration of an SCM transmission system is reported, based on a quadrature phase-shift keying modulator and demodu...

Mode division multiplexing (MDM) is a promising technology for increasing the aggregate bandwidth of multimode fiber (MMF) in conjunction with wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) in face of the impending capacity crunch in optical fiber networks. This paper investigates the effect of radial and azimuthal mode spacings in a 25-channel MDM-WDM system in MMF using a spatial light modulator-cont...
متن کاملMode Group Diversity Multiplexing Transceiver Design for Graded-Index Multimode Fibres
Mode group diversity multiplexing (MGDM) is an optical multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique for short-reach networks. In this paper a simple MGDM transceiver design for glass graded-index multimode fibres is proposed. Introduction In short-reach optical networks multimode fibre (MMF) and especially graded-index MMF (GI-MMF) is the medium of choice because of its ease of splicing. The...
