Signal averaged electrocardiography and renal function in hypertensive patients

چکیده
Abnormal signal averaged electrocardiograms (SAECGs) and late ventricular potentials (LVPs) are predictors of sudden cardiac death. The present study hypothesized that SAECGs are impaired in hypertensive patients with renal failure. A total of 30 patients with grade 2 hypertension underwent SAECG. Serum level of creatinine and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) were also assessed. At least one SAECG time-domain criteria was positive in 20 patients (67%) and 13 patients had at least two positive criteria (43%). Significant correlations and associations were obtained between SAECG criteria and creatinine and GFR, respectively. Impaired renal function was a sensitive and specific predictor of abnormal SAECGs and LVPs. An impaired renal function is significantly associated and predicts abnormal SAECGs and LVPs in hypertensive patients. Key-Words: Signal averaged electrocardiography, late ventricular potentials, hypertension, renal function

Comparative Assessment of Neutrophil Gelatinase-Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) and Cystatin C as Early Biomarkers for Early Detection of Renal Failure in Patients with Hypertension
Background: Hypertension is one the most common causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD). One of the major concerns in hypertensive patients is early detection of renal disorders. In the past, serum creatinine (Scr) concentration was used as a marker of kidney function, but it proffers a late reflection of reduced glomerular filtration rate. Cystatin C and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocal...

Introduction: Renal artery stenosis is the most prevalent disease of renal artery and has an important role in making hypertension and renal atrophy. Since in previous researches, despite high frequency of risk of cardiovascular disease in Iran, there did not exist any general research investigating risk factors of coronary artery disease and incidence of contemporary renal artery stenisis, ...
متن کاملSignal-Averaged Electrocardiography in Patients with Advanced Heart Failure: A Better Indicator of Left Ventricular Enlargement Compared with Conventional Electrocardiography
BACKGROUND The signal-averaged electrocardiography is a noninvasive method to evaluate the presence of the potentials generated by tissues activated later than their usual timing in the cardiac cycle. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the correlation between the filtered QRS duration obtained via the signal-averaged electrocardiography and left ventricular dimensions and volumes and ...
