چکیده

Spleen cells from mice treated with Cyclophosphamide (150 mg/kg) and cultured at suboptimal concentrations do not gen erate a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response to allogeneic tumor cells. The reduced response of spleen cells from cyclophosphamide-treated mice is not due to the elimination of CTL precursors because normal responses are obtained by the addition of a helper factor(s) derived from mixed lymphocyte culture supernatants. The results indicate that helper cells, required for development of CTL responses to tumor alloantigens, are eliminated by Cyclophosphamide in the absence of evident toxicity to CTL precursors.

Recovery of the in vivo cytotoxic T-cell response in cyclophosphamide-treated mice by injection of mixed-lymphocyte-culture supernatants.

Mice given injections of high antileukemic doses of cyclophosphamide lost the capacity to generate cytotoxic T-cells in vivo to allogeneic tumor cells. These low responses were not due to the elimination of cytotoxic T-lymphocyte precursors because normal cytotoxic responses were obtained in vivo after cyclophosphamide treatment by injection of helper factor derived from mixed-lymphocyte-cultur...

Induction of Cytotoxic T Lymphocyte Antigen 4 (Ctla-4) Restricts Clonal Expansion of Helper T Cells

Cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen (CTLA)-4 plays an essential role in immunologic homeostasis. How this negative regulator of T cell activation executes its functions has remained controversial. We now provide evidence that CTLA-4 mediates a cell-intrinsic counterbalance to restrict the clonal expansion of proliferating CD4(+) T cells. The regulation of CTLA-4 expression and function ensures that,...

Cytotoxic T-Cell Markers and Cytokines in Human Papillomavirus 16

Background and Aim: Cervical cancer is the fourth main cause of mortality among women, and annually about half a million new cases are detected in developed countries. Based on oncological studies, human papillomavirus (HPV) is classified into two categories: high-risk type and low-risk type, and most cases are related to the high-risk type of human papillomavirus. HPV 16 and 18 are among the m...

Immunohistochemical evaluation of lymphocyte types infiltrate into the canine seminomas

BACKGROUNDS: Seminoma is frequently observed in human and canine testes especially in cryptorchids. Canine and human seminomas are typically associated with leukocytic infiltration. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to identify the type of lymphocytes that infiltrate to seminomas. METHODS: Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes were evaluated by immunohistological techniques in 5 dogs with diffuse seminoma. Routine...
