MR Protocols Breast Imaging

چکیده
Compared with 1.5T, 3T imaging has the inherent advantage of providing a higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and higher resolution or faster scans, although there are trade-offs among these as well as certain limitations. 3T MR has a high specific absorption rate (four times that of 1.5T), decreased B1 homogeneity, longer T1 relaxation time, and increased susceptibility artifact. Despite these potential obstacles, a study from Kuhl et al1 showed that image quality was significantly higher at 3T than at 1.5T. CLINICAL AND TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Abbreviated MRI Protocols for Detecting Breast Cancer in Women with Dense Breasts
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the validity of two abbreviated protocols (AP) of MRI in breast cancer screening of dense breast tissue. MATERIALS AND METHODS This was a retrospective study in 356 participants with dense breast tissue and negative mammography results. The study was approved by the Nanjing Medical University Ethics Committee. Patients were imaged with a full diagnostic protocol (FDP) of...
متن کاملClinical Breast MR Using MRS or DWI: Who Is the Winner?
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the breast gained a role in clinical practice thanks to the optimal sensitivity of contrast-enhanced (CE) protocols. This approach, first proposed 30 years ago and further developed as bilateral highly spatially resolved dynamic study, is currently considered superior for cancer detection to any other technique. However, other directions than CE imaging have ...
متن کاملComparison between MRS and DWI in MRI of breast cancer
Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is the second leading cause of cancer death (after lung cancer) in people throughout the world. Today, MRI is being used because of the limitations of x-ray mammography to detect breast cancer. Non-contrast sequences were associated to CE sequences in a breast MRI protocol for the sake of appraising morphologic ...

Imaging for breast cancer comprises multiple options in terms of modalities and protocols that have to be applied in the clinical context by radiologists, referring GPs and medical imaging technicians across a broad patient population. We will discuss the roles of modalities such as mammography (standard 2D and 3D/ DBT), breast ultrasound as well as the suite of interventional options including...
