Statistical analysis of the inhomogeneous telegrapher’s process

چکیده
We consider a problem of estimation for the telegrapher’s process on the line, say X(t), driven by a Poisson process with non constant rate. It turns out that the finite-dimensional law of the process X(t) is a solution to the telegraph equation with non constant coefficients. We give the explicit law (Pθ) of the process X(t) for a parametric class of intensity functions for the Poisson process. We propose an estimator for the parameter θ of Pθ and we discuss its properties as a first attempt to apply statistics to these models.

The preventive role of Snell’s law in mode conversion from Z- to whistler-mode waves in an inhomogeneous magnetoplasma with a low density
Electromagnetic waves with different modes, such as Z-, whistler-, LO- and RX- modes are found in different regions of the Earth magnetosphere and the magnetosphere of other planets. Since whistler-mode waves influence the behavior of the magnetosphere, and they are used as experimental tools to investigate the upper atmosphere, they are important. On the other hand, the mode conversion process...

In this paper we propose an accurate and fast numerical method to obtain scattering fields from lossy dispersive inhomogeneous planar layers for both TE and TM polarizations. A new method is introduced to analyze lossy Inhomogeneous Planar Layers. In this method by applying spline based Galerkin’s method of moment to scalar wave equation and imposing boundary conditions we obtain reflection and...
متن کاملThe Time-Rescaling Theorem and Its Application to Neural Spike Train Data Analysis
Measuring agreement between a statistical model and a spike train data series, that is, evaluating goodness of fit, is crucial for establishing the model's validity prior to using it to make inferences about a particular neural system. Assessing goodness-of-fit is a challenging problem for point process neural spike train models, especially for histogram-based models such as perstimulus time hi...

The main objective of this paper is to generalize the Extended Irreversible Thermodynamics in order to include the anomalous transport in systems in non-equilibrium conditions. Considering the generalized entropy, the corresponding flux and entropy production, and using the time fractional derivative, we have derived a space-time generalized telegrapher’s equation with a fractional nested hiera...
متن کاملPort Representations of the Telegrapher’s Equations
This article studies the telegrapher’s equations with boundary port variables. Firstly, a link is made between the telegrapher’s equations and a skewsymmetric linear operator on a spatial domain. Associated to this linear operator is a Dirac structure which includes the port variables on the boundary of this spatial domain. Secondly, we present all partitions of the port variables into inputs a...
