چکیده

In recent time, tra c demand in metropolitan areas has largely exceeded capacity. Typical remedies such as the expansion of the road way system or road improvement do not work well anymore for various reasons: on the one hand communities cannot a ord the increased costs of road construction, on the other hand there are political and environmental objections. Therefore, computer simulation as a means of evaluating, planning, and controlling large tra c systems has gained considerable importance. The classical approach of tra c research consists of four steps: tra c generation, route planning, static assignment of routes onto the network, and evaluation. Lately, more and more work has been invested to consider the dynamic aspects of these components. Especially the microsimulation part has taken great advantage of models developed in classical research areas such as physics, mathematics, and computer science. The failure of classical simulations to describe (and possibly predict) tra c was in part due to insu cient computational speed. One had the choice of simulating a rather large area (e.g., the metropolitan area of Los Angeles) at a low resolution (vehicle densities instead of individual vehicles) or simulating a small excerpt (e.g., a suburb) at a high resolution. Only in recent years, it has become possible to use

Experiences with a Simpliied Microsimulation for the Dallas/fort worth Area

We describe a simple framework for micro simulation of city traac. A medium sized excerpt of Dallas was used to examine diierent levels of simulation delity of a cellular automaton method for the traac ow simulation and a simple intersection model. We point out problems arising with the granular structure of the underlying rules of motion.

Lower Bone Mineral Density is Associated with Intertrochanteric Hip Fracture

Background: A better understanding of how bone mineral density and vitamin D levels are associated with femoralneck and intertrochanteric hip fractures may help inform healthcare providers. We asked: 1) In patients age ≥ 55 years,is there a difference in quantitative ultrasound of the heel (QUS) t-score between patients with fractures of the femoralneck and those with fractures of the intertroc...

CEMDAP: Modeling and Microsimulation Frameworks, Software Development, and Verification

The Comprehensive Econometric Micro-simulator for Daily Activity-travel Patterns (CEMDAP) is a micro-simulation implementation of a continuous-time activity-travel modeling system. Given as input various socio-demographic, land-use, and transportation level-of-service attributes, the system provides as output the complete daily activity-travel patterns for all individuals of a population. This ...

Experiences with Iterated Traffic Microsimulations in Dallas

This paper reports experiences with iterated traffic microsimulations in the context of a Dallas study. " Iterated microsimulations " here means that the information generated by a microsimulation is fed back into the route planner so that the simulated individuals can adjust their routes to circumvent congestion. This paper gives an overview over what has been done in the Dallas context to bet...
