Epidemic Encephalitis

چکیده
and metatheory, syntax and semantics, as well as an introduction to the use of symbolic language. The author presents in detail a specimen theory in symbolic language in order to illustrate general principles of theory construction through axiomatization and formalization. An attentive study of the book should give scientists fundamental insight into the nature of scientific theory and provide an opening wedge into more general treatises. The last two sections of the book are devoted to answering specific objections which have been raised in regard to the introduction of the theory of logic into the natural sciences. Symbolic logic is an efficient instrument for determining the conclusions to which a given set of hypotheses lead. Its use should eliminate controversies which are due merely to the defects and ambiguities of language. The book merits close scrutiny by natural scientists.

متن کاملEpidemic Encephalitis and Simple Herpes
The purpose of this paper is to explain the state of our knowledge of the etiology of epidemic encephalitis, and especially to draw a line of demarcation between the established virus of simple herpes and the hypothetical virus of epidemic encephalitis. It had already been shown that the experimental observations on rabbits do no suffice to prove the identity of the herpes with the encephalitis...
متن کاملInfection and dissemination of Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus in the epidemic mosquito vector, Aedes taeniorhynchus.
The mosquito Aedes taeniorhynchus is an important epidemic vector of Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV), but detailed studies of its infection are lacking. We compared infection by an epidemic VEEV strain to that by an enzootic strain using virus titrations, immunohistochemistry, and a virus expressing the green fluorescent protein. Ae. taeniorhynchus was more susceptible to the epidem...
متن کاملComparison of Argentinean Saint Louis Encephalitis Virus Non-Epidemic and Epidemic Strain Infections in an Avian Model
St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV, Flavivirus, Flaviviridae) is an emerging mosquito-borne pathogen in South America, with human SLEV encephalitis cases reported in Argentina and Brazil. Genotype III strains of SLEV were isolated from Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes in Cordoba, Argentina in 2005, during the largest SLEV outbreak ever reported in South America. The present study tested the hy...
متن کاملExploring Genomic, Geographic and Virulence Interactions among Epidemic and Non-Epidemic St. Louis Encephalitis Virus (Flavivirus) Strains
St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV) is a re-emerging arbovirus in South America. In 2005, an encephalitis outbreak caused by SLEV was reported in Argentina. The reason for the outbreak remains unknown, but may have been related to virological factors, changes in vectors populations, avian amplifying hosts, and/or environmental conditions. The main goal of this study was to characterize the comp...
متن کاملVirulence variation among epidemic and non-epidemic strains of Saint Louis encephalitis virus circulating in Argentina
Saint Louis encephalitis virus caused an outbreak of febrile illness and encephalitis cases in Córdoba, Argentina, in 2005. During this outbreak, the strain CbaAr-4005 was isolated from Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes. We hypothesised that this epidemic variant would be more virulent in a mouse model than two other non-epidemic strains (78V-6507 and CorAn-9275) isolated under different epidem...
