چکیده

Progressive image transmission is a mechanism that transmits the most significant portion of an image, followed by its less important parts. Applications of such a mechanism include browsing large image files on the Internet. We propose an adaptive mechanism, based on the characteristics of images. The mechanism use neighbor pixels to guess a target pixel value, without actually transmitting the target pixel. An error correction scheme is also designed to cope with a failure guessing. The prototype is tested on 1500 bit-mapped pictures of different categories. Preliminary results should that the transmission rate is lower than others, with reasonable PSNR values of the transmitted images. Interested readers can find the prototype tool and our evaluations at http://www.mine.tku.edu.tw/demos/ProgTransmission.

Innovative Decomposition for Progressive Image Transmission

Progressive image transmission (PIT) transmits the most significant portion of a picture, followed by its less important portions. The mechanism can be used in Web-based applications while users are browsing images. However, most PIT methods use the same pixel interpolation scheme for the entire picture, without considering the differences among image blocks. This paper analyzes the efficiency ...

Spatio - Temporal Adaptive Interlaced

In this paper, we propose two adaptive interlaced-to-progressive conversion techniques in which the adequacy of the estimated motion vector is evaluated. If the motion vector is unlikely to give a good temporal motion compensated interpolation result, spatial interpolation is favored or selected to avoid temporal artifacts. In the rst proposed interlaced-to-progressive conversion technique, cal...

Stylized rendering for multiresolution image representation

By integrating stylized rendering with an efficient multiresolution image representation, we enable the user to control how compression affects the aesthetic appearance of an image. Adopting a point-based rendering approach to progressive image transmission and compression, we represent an image by a sequence of color values. To best approximate the image at progressive levels of detail, a nove...

Fuzzy motion adaptive algorithm and its hardware implementation for video de-interlacing

Interlacing techniques were introduced in the early analog TV transmission systems as an efficient mechanism capable of halving the video bandwidth. Currently, interlacing is also used by some modern digital TV transmission systems, however, there is a problem at the receiver side since the majority of modern display devices require a progressive scanning. De-interlacing algorithms convert an i...
