چکیده
Percutaneous drainage of the bile ducts is an established procedure for malignant obstructions, in which a histological diagnosis is often not obtained. We describe the biopsy technique of obstructive lesions through biliary drainage access, using a 7F endoscopic biopsy forceps, widely available; some are even reusable. This technique applies to lesions of the hepatic ducts, of the common hepatic duct and of all extension of the common bile duct.

Transbiliary intravascular ultrasound-guided diagnostic biopsy of an inaccessible pancreatic head mass
Percutaneous image-guided biopsies of pancreatic malignancies may prove challenging and nondiagnostic due to a variety of anatomic considerations. For patients with complex post-surgical anatomy, such as a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, diagnosis via endoscopic ultrasound with fine-needle aspiration may not be possible because of an inability to reach the proximal duodenum. This report describes the...

Biopsies of thoracic lesions guidance. 22 of the 1 12 lesions were mediastinal and 83 were pleuroparenchymal. A large-bore 14-gauge Tru-cut needle was used in all patients. Adequate specimens for histologic examination were obtained in 98%. The overall accuracy was 91 % with 9% false negative and no false positive diagnoses. Despite the large size of the needle, the total number of complic...
متن کاملApproach to undiagnosed exudative pleural effusion: the diagnostic yield of blind pleural biopsy
Background: Blind percutaneous pleural biopsy has traditionally been performed to investigate the etiology of exudative pleural effusion in which the initial thoracocentesis has been non- diagnostic. In view of the increasing use of image-guided and thoracoscopic pleural biopsies, this study examined the role of blind Abrams pleural biopsy in the investigation of the exudative pleural effusion ...
متن کاملUtilization of open lung biopsy in patients with acute respiratory failure and diffuse pulmonary infiltrates Utilização da biópsia pulmonar a céu aberto em pacientes com insuficiência respiratória aguda e infiltrado pulmonar difuso*
Objective: The goal of this study was to better define the frequency of unexpected diagnoses made by open lung biopsy, the frequency with which biopsy results lead to a change in clinical management, and the frequency of procedural complications in patients with diffuse pulmonary infiltrates requiring mechanical ventilation. Methods: This is an observational, non-controlled study, with prospect...
