چکیده

Autonomy and agency are a central property in robotic systems, human-machine interfaces, e-business, ambient intelligence and assisted living applications. As the complexity of the situations the autonomous agents may encounter in such contexts is increasing, the decisions those agents make must integrate new issues, e.g. decisions involving contextual ethical considerations. Consequently contributions have proposed recommendations, advice or hard-wired ethical principles for systems of autonomous agents. However, sociotechnical systems are more and more open and decentralized, and involve autonomous artificial agents interacting with other agents, human operators or users. For such systems, novel and original methods are needed to address contextual ethical decision-making, as decisions are likely to interfere with one another. This paper aims at presenting the ETHICAA project (Ethics and Autonomous Agents) whose objective is to define what should be an autonomous entity that could manage ethical conflicts. As a first proposal, we present various practical case studies of ethical conflicts and highlight what their main system and decision features are.

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....

Adaptive Neural Network Method for Consensus Tracking of High-Order Mimo Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems

This paper is concerned with the consensus tracking problem of high order MIMO nonlinear multi-agent systems. The agents must follow a leader node in presence of unknown dynamics and uncertain external disturbances. The communication network topology of agents is assumed to be a fixed undirected graph. A distributed adaptive control method is proposed to solve the consensus problem utilizing re...

Voltage Coordination of FACTS Devices in Power Systems Using RL-Based Multi-Agent Systems

This paper describes how multi-agent system technology can be used as the underpinning platform for voltage control in power systems. In this study, some FACTS (flexible AC transmission systems) devices are properly designed to coordinate their decisions and actions in order to provide a coordinated secondary voltage control mechanism based on multi-agent theory. Each device here is modeled as ...

A negotiation model for autonomous computational agents: Formal description and empirical evaluation

Autonomous agents are being used in an increasing number of applications. The agents operate in complex environments and, over time, conflicts inevitably occur among them. Negotiation is the predominant process for resolving conflicts. This paper presents a generic negotiation model for autonomous agents that handles multi-party, multi-issue and single or repeated rounds. The model is based on ...
