چکیده

Globodem roswch!ens!s and G. pall!da harched (l-day-old in poraro roor diffusare) second srage juveniles 02) conrained 29.2 % and 27.2 % lipid (of dry weighr), respectively. Globodera roslOch!ens!s J2 lipid consisred of 72.8 % neutral lipid, 11.3 % free fatty acids and 15.9% non-acetic phospholipid. The neutral lipid fraction comprised 95.5 % triacylglycerides, 1.8 % diacylglycerides, 2.3 % monoacylglycerides and 0.4 % cholesterol ester. Globodera pall!daJ2 lipid consisted of 73.0 % neutral lipid, 13.2 % free fatty acids and 13.8 % n.-a. phospholipid. Total unsaturated fatty acids comprised 77.4 % and 80.6 % of total lipid in G. rosLOchiensis and G. pall!da, respectively. The two species showed similar fatty acid profiles. Twenty fatty acids were identified, ranging from C 14 to C22; the major lipid classes were composed predominantly of C20 (50-60 %) and C 18 (30-35 %) fatty acids. The three mosr abundant fatty acids found in both species were C20:4, C20: I and C 18: I, making up more than 60 % of the toral. Globodera roslOchlensis J2, which had hatched over 24 h periods during the first 2 weeks exposure ro potato root diffusate, had the same fatty acid composition as those which hatched over 96 h periods in weeks 3 and 4.

The effect of linalool on second-stage juveniles of the potato cyst nematodes Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida.

Linalool is either a toxic compound to a few species of plant parasitic nematodes or attractive to entomopathogenic nematodes. This compound is produced and emitted by several host plants of Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida, the potato cyst nematodes (PCN). With the aim to reveal the effect of linalool on PCN, laboratory assays were carried out. Survival of PCN second-stage juveniles (J2s...

Comparative Responses of Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida to Hatching Chemicals.

Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida responded similarly to hatch stimulation by potato root leachate, but proportionally more second-stage juveniles (J2s) of G. rostochiensis hatched than of G. pallida in response to picrolonic acid, sodium thiocyanate, alpha-solanine, and alpha-chaconine. Fractionation of the potato root leachate identified hatching factors with species-selective (active to...

Morphological and Molecular Identification of Globodera pallida Associated with Potato in Idaho.

The identity of a newly discovered population of pale potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida associated with potato in eastern Idaho was established by morphological and molecular methods. Morphometrics of cysts and second-stage juveniles were generally within the expected ranges for G. pallida with some variations noted. The Idaho population and paratype material from Epworth, Lincolnshire, En...

Progressive metabolic impairment underlies the novel nematicidal action of fluensulfone on the potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida.

BACKGROUND Fluensulfone is a new nematicide with an excellent profile of selective toxicity against plant parasitic nematodes. Here, its effects on the physiology and biochemistry of the potato cyst nematode Globodera pallida have been investigated and comparisons made with its effect on the life-span of the free-living nematode Caenorhabditis elegans to provide insight into its mode of action ...

Effects of Host Resistance on Second-stage Juveniles and Adult Males of Globodera rostochiensis.

Potato cultivars Katahdin (susceptible) and Rosa (resistant) were exposed to infective second-stage juveniles (J2) of Globodera rostochiensis for varying periods of time, after which root systems were washed and plants were placed in Hoagland's solution to assess J2 egression and male emergence. After transfer to liquid culture, many J2 egressed from both cultivars, but significantly more egres...
