چکیده
Pregabalin is a novel anticonvulsive and analgesic drug that has been marketed in Europe for more than a year. The typical side effects are dizziness, somnolence and weight gain. We present a patient who, after unintended rapid up-titration of pregabalin, experienced psychotic symptoms associated with rhythmic EEG-changes resolving completely after discontinuation of pregabalin and benzodiazepine administration.

OBJECTIVE To determine the EEG findings associated with acute post coronary artery bypass graft encephalopathy (aPCE), and to study the demographics and neuroimaging findings. METHODS We reviewed the EEG in all patients with the diagnosis of PCE between February 2006 and December 2011. RESULTS We identified 21 (20 males, and one female) patients with aPCE. متن کاملEmergency EEG and diagnostic yield.
The aim of the study was to determine whether an acute loss of consciousness, mental status change or related symptoms correlated with the presence of epileptiform abnormalities on urgent EEG. We analyzed 228 consecutive patients admitted to Emergency Room during the past 12 months and referred for urgent EEG evaluation. All patients had either a brief loss of consciousness or acute brain disor...
متن کاملAbsence of early epileptiform abnormalities predicts lack of seizures on continuous EEG.
OBJECTIVE To determine whether the absence of early epileptiform abnormalities predicts absence of later seizures on continuous EEG monitoring of hospitalized patients. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 242 consecutive patients without a prior generalized convulsive seizure or active epilepsy who underwent continuous EEG monitoring lasting at least 18 hours for detection of nonconvulsive se...
متن کاملSevoflurane and epileptiform EEG changes.
Sevoflurane has become the volatile agent of choice for inhalation induction of anesthesia. Hemodynamic stability and lack of respiratory irritation have justified its rapid extension to pediatric inhalation induction. The epileptogenic potential of sevoflurane has been suspected since the first case reports of abnormal movements in children without a history of epilepsy. The objectives of this...
