چکیده

This letter compares pilot-aided phase-shift keyed (PSK) and differential PSK (DPSK) modulation when using new maximum a posteriori joint channel estimation and equalization receivers with frequency-selective fast-fading channels. We conclude that pilot-aided PSK has superior bit-error rate performance in this case. However, at low signal-to-noise ratio, performance is similar, and DPSK is competitive due to reduced receiver complexity.

Dpsk vs. Pilot-aided Psk Map Equalization for Fast-fading Channels

In this paper, we extend our recent work in maximum a posteriori (MAP) equalization for frequency-selective fast-fading channels to the case of diieren-tially encoded transmitted symbols. The equalizer employs an expanded trellis for the purpose of joint channel estimation and equalization. Channel estimation is performed using minimum mean square error (MMSE) techniques coupled with the hypoth...

Convolutionally Interleaved PSK and DPSK Trellis Codes for Shadowed, Fast Fading Mobile Satellite Communication Channels

Using a model from the literature, the performance of convolutionally interleaved phase shift keying (PSK) and differential phase shift keying (DPSK) trellis codes for digital speech transmission over a shadowed mobile satellite communication channels is determined via digital computer simulation. First the characteristics of fading channels are examined and analyzed in terms of the probability...

Iterative MAP detection of coded M-DPSK signals in fading channels

– Maximum a posteriori (MAP) detection of MDPSK modulated signals is proposed for both time-nondispersive and time-dispersive fading channels. When the communication system comprises an inner convolutional encoder with a bit-interleaver, it is shown that an iterative receiver obtained from the concatenation of a MAP MDPSK detector and a MAP convolutional decoder is capable of improving the perf...
