چکیده

BACKGROUND The left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) graft is the most important graft in coronary artery bypass graft surgery.1 The length of the LIMA is fixed and situations may arise when this is inadequate.2 This may not be apparent during the cardiopulmonary bypass until after the anastomosis has been performed and the lungs re-expanded. We describe a technique to reduce the tension on the LIMA to LAD anastomosis in such situations.

Bilateral internal mammary arteries: a new trick for coronary artery bypass grafting.

I read with interest the article in the April 2012 edition by Grau et al. I congratulate Grau et al. [1] for an excellent study. It will be interesting to know how both internal mammary arteries were used—either in situ or as y graft. In spite of the established superiority of left internal mammary artery graft, the use of the bilateral internal mammary artery has not gained popularity. In rece...

Early Clinical Outcomes and Mortality of Coronary Endarterectomy in the Left Anterior Descending Artery: A Single-Center Experience

Introduction: Although coronary endarterectomy is not an ideal procedure, it is the only available option for cardiac surgeons in some patients with diffuse coronary artery disease. Based on the majority of conducted studies, the results of coronary endarterectomy (including survival, graft patency, and recurrence of the symptoms of myocardial ischemia) are less prevalent than standard coronary...

Coronary artery steal syndrome in patient after coronary arteries by-pass surgery and left subclavian artery stenting: is the maintenance of a patent internal mammary artery still necessary?

[email protected] The use of the left internal mammary artery (LIMA) is preferred for the revascularization of a stenosed or occluded left anterior descending artery (LAD). Occlusion or stenosis of proximal part of the left subclavian artery (LSA) could induce reverse blood flow in LIMA called coronary subclavian steal syndrome (CSSS) and should be revascularized before coronary artery bypass ...

Coronary steal syndrome after coronary artery bypass for anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery.

Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery found in a symptomatic 9-year-old boy was initially treated with coronary artery bypass grafting using a left internal mammary artery anastomoses to the left anterior descending coronary artery, but resulted in coronary ischemia, likely from a steal phenomenon. Subsequent transection of the proximal left internal mammary artery with anastomosis to th...

Graft flow unaffected by full occlusion of left anterior descending artery during coronary artery bypass grafting in a porcine model.

BACKGROUND We investigated in a porcine model whether measuring both the flow distal to an anastomosis and the graft transit time flow (TTF) gives a more accurate picture of the true blood flow in the left anterior descending artery (LAD) than graft TTF measurement alone. METHODS We performed off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)-left internal mammary artery (LIMA) to the LAD-on 5 Y...
