have continued to use the same analytical system (that is, the same sample preparation and decomposition methods, with atomic absorption spectroscopy as the final determination step) to determine 13 elements in stream and lake sediments collected for the RGS program. In the early 1980s, simultaneous determination of 30 elements or more by inductively coupled plasma emission spectroscopy (ICP-ES) provided superior cost performance and has since replaced atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) as the popular method for determining concentrations of trace and major elements in sediments, soils and rocks. Inductively coupled plasmaemission spectroscopy also offers technical advantages over AAS (Fletcher, 1981; Thompson, 1986), namely: Virtually simultaneous multi-element analyses. Determination of trace and major elements in the same solutions, without dilution. 0 Fewer molecular interferences and lack of interference due to formation of refractory compounds. These cost and technical advantages suggested that a study

CRFA-CRBM: a hybrid technique for anomaly recognition in regional geochemical exploration; case study: Dehsalm area, east of Iran
Identification of geochemical anomalies is a significant step during regional geochemical exploration. In this matter, new techniques have been developed based on deep learning networks. These simple-structure-networks act like our brains on processing the data by simulating deep layers of thinking. In this paper, a hybrid compositional-deep learning technique was applied to identify the anomal...

Soil heavy metal pollution is one of the main environmental problems in Pearl River Delta Economic Zone of China. Based on multi-purpose regional geochemical survey, regional eco-geochemical assessment, local eco-geochemical assessment and comprehensive appraisal, the eco-geochemical survey and assessment in Pearl River Delta Economic Zone of 41,698 km2 were completed. Samples from soils were c...
متن کاملApplication of Probabilistic Clustering Algorithms to Determine Mineralization Areas in Regional-Scale Exploration Studies
In this work, we aim to identify the mineralization areas for the next exploration phases. Thus, the probabilistic clustering algorithms due to the use of appropriate measures, the possibility of working with datasets with missing values, and the lack of trapping in local optimal are used to determine the multi-element geochemical anomalies. Four probabilistic clustering algorithms, namely PHC,...
متن کاملEnvironmental studies in Western Europe using overbank sediment
There is particular concern in Western Europe about the environmental problems, and urgent and concerted international action is warranted. An evaluation of the present state of pollution requires systematic, compatible data on the present distribution as well as the preindustrial, natural distribution of chemical elements in surface environments. The appliance of overbank sediments from river ...
متن کاملOrganic Geochemical Evaluation of Madbi Source Rock, Al-Jawf Basin, NE Central Yemen
Organic geochemical evaluation of the Madbi Formation as the main source rock of the Al-Jawf Basin, NE Central Yemen was the main objective of this study. The organic geochemical methods used in the study include: rock-eval pyrolysis, total organic carbon, and optical measurements as the vitrinite reflectance and thermal alteration index. In this study, 67 well core and side-well core samples o...
