Identification of the E 1 fElk cholinesterase genotype

چکیده
Since the introduction of the short acting muscle relaxant succinyl dicholine (suxamethonium) in 1951 and the subsequent discovery that certain patients exhibited a greater than usual sensitivity to the drug, interest has been directed towards identifying the genetically controlled variants of serum cholinesterase (acylcholine acyl hydrolase E.C. 3.1.1.8). Some of these variants have been found to be the biochemical basis for this prolonged relaxant effect. The atypical, dibucaine resistant variant described in 1957 by Kalow and Genest,' the fluoride resistant variant identified by Harris and Whittaker2 in 1961, and the silent gene reported in 1962 by Liddell et a13 were the first cholinesterase variants to be recognised. Taken in pairs, these three variants, together with the usual gene, result in 10 possible cholinesterase genotypes, all of which have been described and identified. In 1976, Garry et a14 identified the J allele, while two years later Rubinstein et a15 reported the K allele. These are both quantitative

Introduction & Objective: Diazinon (DZN) is an organophosphate insecticide that one of the mechanisms of toxicity is the inhibition of cholinesterase. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of diazinon on cholinesterase activity in blood serum and erythrocytes of male and female rats and to assess the protective role of vitamin E. Materials & Methods: In this experimental stud...
متن کاملOn the identification and frequency of the J and K cholinesterase phenotypes in a Caucasian population.
An analysis of investigations performed between December 1978 and September 1982 into the cholinesterase status of 795 Caucasian patients has revealed an E1aE1j genotype in three (0.4%) and an E1aE1k genotype in 22 (2.8%). Both groups of patients are at increased risk of sensitivity to suxamethonium. Inhibitor numbers characteristic of these genotypes are reported which it is hoped will assist ...
متن کاملMolecular detection and identification of Giardia duodenalis in cattle of Urmia, northwest of Iran
Giardia duodenalis is one of the most prevalent intestinal protozoa infecting humans and domestic animals. The aim of this study was to identify subspecies of G. duodenalis by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method from fecal samples of naturally infected cattle in the Urmia, West Azerbaijan province, Iran. Overall, 246 fecal s...
متن کاملThe Study of Morphological Traits and Identification of Self-incompatibility Alleles in Almond Cultivars and Genotypes
The evaluation of an almond collection using morphological variables and identification of self-incompatibility genotype is useful for selecting pollinizers and for the design of crossing in almond breeding programs. In this study, important morphological traits and self-incompatibilities in 71 almond cultivars and genotypes were studied. Simple and multiplex specific PCR analyses were used in...
متن کاملCholinesterases Enzymes Activities as Biomarkers of Farm Workers Exposed to Organophosphates in Two Communities of Khuzestan, Iran
Organophosphate (OPs) compounds are widely used in intensive agriculture to improve production, protect crops and control diseases vectors. The main mechanism of toxicity of OPs is the inhibition of the Cholinesterase enzymes. In this study the acetylcholinestrase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) and specific acetylcholinestrase (SAChE) activities as potential biomarkers of exposure to OPs ...
