چکیده
Received: Revised: Accepted: May 06, 2014 January 06, 2015 February 10, 2015 The aims of the present study were to investigate the antibody response of cows from an outbreak region to vaccination with a bivalent botulinum toxoid (Type C and D) on three occasions and to investigate the antibody response to vaccination with the botulinum toxoid in the presence of anti-BoNT antibodies. Twenty-two cows from an outbreak region and 10 cows from a farm without a history of botulism were used in this study. Blood samples were collected before each vaccination and three weeks after the third vaccination (days 0, 21, 42 and 63). The level of anti-BoNT/C antibodies steadily increased after each vaccination (0.471±0.04, 0.566±0.03 and 0.663±0.04, respectively); however, the levels of antiBoNT/D antibodies were not significantly different after the second and third vaccinations (0.377±0.03, 0.493±0.03 and 0.465±0.03, respectively). Post vaccination antibody responses of animals found positive and negative for antiBoNT antibodies at the beginning of the study were similar. The results of the present study indicated that vaccination of cattle with botulinum toxoid on three occasions is recommended, particularly in outbreaks that are suspected to be caused by BoNT/C and that presence of naturally acquired antibodies against BoNT did not interfere with post vaccination immune response. ©2015 PVJ. Immunogenic and Protective Potentials of Recombinant Receptor Binding Domain and a C-Terminal Fragment of Clostridium botulinum Neurotoxin Type E
Clostridium Botulinum Type E neurotoxin heavy chain consists of two domains: the translocation domain asthe N-terminal half and the binding domain as the Cterminal half (Hc). One effective way to neutralize botulinum neurotoxin is to inhibit binding of this toxin to neuromuscular synapses with antibodies against binding domain. Two synthetic genes, coding for Hc (the full length binding d...

Botulinum neurotoxins, predominantly serotypes C and D, cause equine botulism through forage poisoning. The C-terminal part of the heavy chain of botulinum neurotoxin types C and D (HcBoNT/C and D) was expressed in Escherichia coli and evaluated as a recombinant mono- and bivalent vaccine in twelve horses in comparison to a commercially available toxoid vaccine. A three-dose subcutaneous immuni...

In the present study the efficacy Botulism vaccine (formalinised aluminum hydroxide gel adsorbed toxoid of Clostridium botulinum types C and D) was evaluated in four Danish dairy cows under field conditions. Other four dairy herds were unvaccinated. Blood serum of all animals was analyzed for specific C. botulinum types A, B, C, D and E antibodies using a developed ELISA. Feces of all animals w...

The resistance of cattle with varying serum-antitoxin titres was determined by per os challenge. The results proved that a solid immunity can be produced against C. botulinum toxins C1 and D. The immune response of cattle to various quantities of C. botulinum C1 and D toxoids, aluminium-phosphate-adsorbed and in water-in-oil emulsion was investigated. The response to antigen in water-in-oil emu...

Background and Objectives: Botulism syndrome is caused by one of the seven botulinum neurotoxins. The toxins binding domain have immunogenicity effect and can be used as a recombinant vaccine candidate against botulism disease. Due to the low immunogenicity of recombinant protein , the use of an appropriate vehicle for antigen delivery to target cells is inevitable. The purpose of this study ...
