Effect of Compression Ratio and Manifold Pressure on Ethanol Utilization in Gasoline/Ethanol Engines

چکیده
The model developed previously for evaluating the impact of direct ethanol injection on the avoidance of knock in spark ignition engines is used to evaluate the trends of changes in compression ratio and variation in the inlet pressure. The ethanol fraction requirements through the engine map is calculated using detailed chemical kinetics model, and a vehicle simulation is used to determine the required ethanol for multiple driving cycles.

Knock Suppression Calculations In Highly Turbocharged Gasoline/Ethanol Engines Using Direct Ethanol Injection
Calculations are described of knock suppression using direct ethanol injection in spark ignition gasoline/ethanol engines. The calculations show that evaporative cooling from direct ethanol injection, coupled with the high octane rating of ethanol, can be highly effective in inhibiting knock, thereby allowing use of small turbocharged engines with substantially increased efficiency. The calcula...
متن کاملEffect of Ignition Timing, Equivalence Ratio, and Compression Ratio on the Performance and Emission Characteristics of a Variable Compression Ratio Si Engine using Ethanol-Unleaded Gasoline Blends
This paper investigates the effect of ethanol-unleaded gasoline blends (E0,E10,E25,E35,andE65) computer interfaced, four-stroke single cylinder compression ignition engine. The said engine wasconverted to spark ignition and carburetion to suit ethanol fuel. A suitable provision was provided on theengine to vary the compression ratio thereby making the engine adaptable to operate at lowercompres...
متن کاملThe Effects of Ethanol–gasoline Blend on Performance and Exhaust Emission Characteristics of Spark Ignition Engines
The effects of unleaded gasoline and unleaded gasoline–ethanol blends on engine performance and pollutant emissions were investigated experimentally in a single cylinder, four-stroke spark-ignition engine with variable engine speeds (2600–3500 rpm). Four different blends on a volume basis were applied. These are E0 (0% ethanol + 100% unleaded gasoline), E3 (3% ethanol + 97% unleaded gasoline), ...
متن کاملExhaust Emission Analysis of an Internal Combustion Engine Fuelled with Hydrogen-Ethanol Dual Fuel
The work presented in this paper is an attempt to evaluate the exhaust emission characteristics of a hydrogen-ethanol dual fuel combination with different percents of hydrogen substitutions (i.e. 0-80 % by volume and of 20 % increment ) at three different compression ratios of 7:1, 9:1 and 11:1. Experimental investigations have been carried out on a computer interfaced with; four-stroke cycle, ...
