چکیده

1) A new procedure for serum lipase determinations is presented. It is specific and sensitive. The incubation period is only 1 hour. 2) This method was clinically applied to some patients with acute pancrea titis and was found to be more useful than other commonly performed pancreatic function tests. 3) Serum lipase activity was determined in the patients with liver diseases consisting of acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatoma, and with biliary diseases. Serum lipase level was elevated in many of them. 4) In order to determine the mechanism of the hyperlipasemia, several inves tigations were performed. It was concluded that hyperlipasemia in patients w.ith hepat ic diseases might be due to abnormal pancreas function influenced by liver impairments.

A new method for the measurement of lipoprotein lipase in postheparin plasma using sodium dodecyl sulfate for the inactivation of hepatic triglyceride I ipasel

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and hepatic triglyceride lipase (H-TGL) are lipolytic activities found in postheparin plasma. A simple and precise method for the direct determination of LPL in postheparin plasma is described. Preincubation of this plasma (45-60 min at 26°C) with sodium dodecyl sulfate (35-50 mM) in 0.2 M Tris-HC1 buffer, pH 8.2, results in the inactivation of H-TGL, while leaving LPL ...

A rapid and sensitive turbidimetric method for serum lipase based upon differences between the lipases of normal and pancreatitis serum.

A rapid turbidimetric method for the determination of serum lipase is described. The substrate is a nearly pure triglyceride in Tris buffer, with sodium deoxycholate as the emulsifying agent. The method is equal in sensitivity to the titrimetric measure of serum lipase using a modified Cherry-Crandall substrate. The serum of patients with acute pancreatitis contains a lipase with optimal action...

The effect of thirteen plants on arginase , creatine kinase, amylase and lipase activities of the serum in diabetic rats

Many traditional plants are used for treatment of diabetes throughout the world as adjuncts to conventional therapy. The purpose of this study was  evaluate the effects of thirteen different plants on arginase, creatin kinase, amylase and lipase activities in serum of diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced in 70 adult male albino rats by intraperitoneal injection of 175 mg/ kg body weight of allox...

During Pancreatitis. with the Present Lipase Appears to Be a Better Test For

Serum lipase is determined by following turbidity changes during two 1-mm intervals after adding serum to an olive oil emulsion containing desoxy. cholate. The olive oil emulsion is simply prepared and is stable for a month under refrigeration. Our observations confirm the findings of other investigators that increases in serum lipase activity are more accentuated than increases in serum amylas...

Properties of serum lipase in patients with various pancreatic diseases. Analysis by a new serum lipase assay method (the BALB-DTNB method) in combination with gel-filtration and iso-electrofocusing techniques.

Very low levels of lipase can easily be measured by a new serum lipase assay method (the BALB-DTNB method), using BAL-tributyrate (BALB) as a substrate, 5,5'-dithiobis(2-nitrobenzoic acid) as a chromogenic SH reagent, phenylmethylsulfonylfluoride as an inhibitor of esterases and sodium dodecyl sulfate as a surfactant. The BALB-DTNB method has a higher sensitivity than the conventional serum lip...
