CLPC: Cross-Layer Product Code for Video Multicast over IEEE 802.11

چکیده
In the wireless network, both random errors and burst errors do occur due to the channel noise. In order to combat such heterogeneous error patterns, we employ an adaptive error protection based on product code. The proposed product code-based protection in network includes cross-layer protection, because each layer experiences a different type of channel errors. We improve the decoding efficiency by adopting a proper protocol stack which allows upper-layers to exploit erroneous packets for the packet reconstruction. In addition, we consider the video multicast over IEEE 802.11 and formulate an aggregated multicast video-quality maximization problem under bandwidth constraint. The results show that the proposed protection scheme improves the aggregated multicast videoquality thanks to the cross-layer optimization. keywords: video multicast over IEEE 802.11, Reed-Solomon (RS) code, forward error correction (FEC), product code, crosslayer optimization.

Raptor Code-Based Video Multicast over IEEE 802.11 WLAN
In this paper, we apply a Raptor code-based forward error correcting scheme right above the medium access control (MAC) layer in order to ensure the reliability of the video multicast over IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs). Both Raptor code rate and physical layer (PHY) transmission rate are dynamically adapted according to the channel condition. We consider a number of MAC schemes for data tra...

The system performance and cross-layer optimisation parameters are analysed for spatial multiplexing (SM) waveforms under different channel conditions and quality of service requirements. Results show th...
متن کاملFAMH: Fast Inter-Subnet Multicast Handoff Method for IEEE 802.11 WLANs
When a mobile node that subscribes to one or more multicast groups moves to another subnet, it is essential to provide a network level multicast handoff mechanism. Previous multicast handoff schemes are based on Mobile IP. However it is known that the Mobile IP is not adequate to interactive multimedia applications such as voice over IP or video conferencing due to its large handoff delay. Addi...
متن کاملARSM: a cross-layer auto rate selection multicast mechanism for multi-rate wireless LANs
Multicast is an efficient paradigm for transmitting data from a sender to a group of receivers. According to the IEEE 802.11 standard, the multicast service is defined as an unreliable service, that is, it does not include the use of ACK frames. Furthermore, different to the unicast service, the multicast service makes use of a single rate out of the various rates included in the basic service ...

© 2015, IJCSMC All Rights Reserved 344 Abstract— Multicasting is the communication between single sender and multiple receivers. The legacy multicasting over the WLAN standard IEEE 802.11 has two problemspoor reliability and low transmission rates. Existing multicast protocols for 802.11 are not so efficient when they are used along with the frame aggregation of IEEE 802.11n WLANS. Therefore we...
