چکیده
Addition of skin penetration enhancer in the formulation is the simplest and most common technique to improve transdermal permeation. However chemical penetration enhancers are known to cause skin irritation. In this research project we are proposing natural penetration enhancer (olive oil) based nano-emulsion. The aim of the present study was to investigate the olive oil based nano-emusion for poorly water soluble drug, fluconazole. Surfactant Tween 80 and co-surfactant n-butanol were selected on the basis of solubility and emulsification ability. Nanoemulsions were prepared by aqueous titration of 1:3.5 mixtures of olive oil and surfactants. Anti-fungal activities of fluconazole nano-emulsion formulations were compared with equivalent amount of fluconazole dissolved in vehicle only. Observed zone of inhibition by all treatment were statistically analyzed to achieve a valid conclusion by one-way analysis of variance with p<0.05 considered as significant. All tested samples were found effective against Aspergillus niger except blank nanoemulsion. The statistical analysis revealed that there is significant difference (p<0.05) between pure fluconazole and its formulations such as fluconazole nanoemulsions and gels and nanosuspension however there was no significant difference between the formulations.

Nanoemulsions are particularly suitable as a platform in the development of delivery systems. The type of nanoemulsion with a higher stability will offer an advantage in the preparation of a delivery system for lipophilic drugs. Nanoemulsions can be fabricated by different processing methods, which are usually categorized as either high- or low-energy methods. In this study, a comparison betwee...
متن کاملEnrichment of Phenolic Compounds from Olive Mill Wastewater and In Vitro Evaluation of Their Antimicrobial Activities
The production of olive oil generates massive quantities of by-product called olive mill wastewater (OMWW). The uncontrolled disposal of OMWW poses serious environmental problems. The OMWW effluent is rich in several polyphenolic compounds. Liquid-liquid extraction of OMWW using ethyl acetate solvent was used to enrich phenolic compounds under investigation. Total phenolic and flavonoid content...

This research studies the application of essential oil nanoemulsion as herbal medicine instead of using antibiotics and chemicals. Thyme, shirazi thyme and rosemary essential oils were selected as herbal drugs. Essential oil nanoemulsions with Tween 80 and/or Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) surfactants were prepared and investigated. Physicochemical characterizations such as hydrodynamic di...
متن کاملAntifungal Activity of Phenolic Compounds Extracted from Dried Olive Pomace
The antifungal activity of phenolic compounds extracted from olive pomace against Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium culmorum was investigated. Olive pomace, a by-product of olive oil production, was used as a source of phenolic compounds. The extracted phenolics were added to a medium to reach phenol concentration of 0.1 and 0.2 % (w/v) and tested for their antifungal activity ag...
