چکیده

Polarization measures, on wide angular scales, together with anisotropy data, can fix DE parameters. Here we discuss the sensitivity needed to provide significant limits. Our analysis puts in evidence that a class of models predicts low correlation or anticorrelation between polarization and anisotropy at low l. This class includes open models and models with DE due to a Ratra–Peebles (RP) potential. Results on this point, given in a previous paper of ours, are updated and partially corrected. We outline that, with the sensitivity of experiments like SPOrt or WMAP, high values of Λ (energy scale in the RP potential) can be excluded. With the sensitivity expected for PLANCK, the selection will extend to much lower Λ’s.

Nature of Dark Energy and Polarization Measurements

We discuss at which noise level measures of polarization on wide angular scales, together with anisotropy data, can fix DE parameters. Anisotropy–polarization correlations, at low l, for RP models, are peculiar and similar to open models. Using a likelihood analysis, we show then that it can be possible to distinguish models with DE due to RP potentials from ΛCDM and other quintessence models, ...

Probing Dark Energy with the Cosmic Microwave Background: Projected Constraints from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe and Planck

We investigate the accuracy attainable by forthcoming space-based observations of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) temperature and polarization anisotropy in constraining the dark energy density parameter ΩQ and equation of state wQ = pQ/ρQ. Despite degeneracies among parameters, it is possible for high precision observations such as those from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe and ...

Indirect Searches for Dark Matter with AMS-02

AMS-02 is a multi-purpose spectrometer with superconducting magnet, and is designed for 3 years of data taking aboard the International Space Station. Its high performance regarding particle identification and energy measurement will allow performing indirect searches for dark matter (DM) in different channels simultaneously: gamma rays, positrons and antiprotons. AMS-02 sensitivity to those si...

Gravitational vacuum polarization as an alternative to dark matter

It is assumed that the quantum vacuum may be studied as consisting of two contributions, with positive and negative energy respectively, which interact but slightly and may be displaced from each other. Then it is proposed that dark matter may be just an increase of the quantum vacuum energy, with respect to the normal dark energy level, induced by the gravitational field of galaxies or cluster...
