A Web Portal for the National Grid Service

چکیده
This paper gives a description of the portal user interface under development for the UK National Grid Service (NGS) by the Grid Technology Group at CCLRC Daresbury Laboratory. The first release of the NGS Portal was based on CHEF, the CompreHensive collaborativE Framework originally developed at the University of Michigan. A set of Grid-related tools has been successfully deployed to provide transparent access to NGS service through a familiar Web interface. A CHEF internal service has also been developed to realise Single Sign-On (SSO) via the MyProxy server maintained by the UK Grid Operations and Support Centre. The second release of the NGS Portal is the described which is based on StringBeans, a JSR 168 portal framework. StringBeans has been customised to enable MyProxy login for Grid users through JAAS (Java Authentication and Authorisation Service) by using the MyProxy Login Module. The NGS portal is now being “cloned” for other projects to benefit from the re-usable Java portlet technology.

Architectural Plan for Constructing Fault Tolerable Workflow Engines Based on Grid Service
In this paper the design and implementation of fault tolerable architecture for scientific workflow engines is presented. The engines are assumed to be implemented as composite web services. Current architectures for workflow engines do not make any considerations for substituting faulty web services with correct ones at run time. The difficulty is to rollback the execution state of the workflo...

1. Introduction The CCLRC e-Science Centre is working on a number of UK e-Research projects supporting access to large research facilities such as the neutron spallation source ISIS, the Synchrotron Radiation Source (SRS) and the Central Laser Facility (CLF) and the new synchroton light source, Diamond, in addition to the National Grid Service and the HPCx supercomputing facility. The aim of th...
متن کاملCoaxSim Grid : Building an Application Portal for a CFD Model
An application portal has been developed to support the execution of a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) numerical model that simulates hydrodynamic flow instability of the coaxial injector in the liquid rocket engine. The CFD application has been integrated into a web-based portal framework so that users can utilize resources available in grid computing environment. The portal provides users ...
متن کاملBuilding Grid Portals for e-Science: A Service Oriented Architecture
Grids are built by communities who need a shared cyberinfrastructure to make progress on the critical problems they are currently confronting. A Grid portal is a conventional Web portal that sits on top of a rich collection of web services that allow a community of users access to shared data and application resources without exposing them to the details of Grid computing. In this chapter we de...
