Distributed object-based storage system that stores block level

چکیده
This presentation aims to describe a method to use a Object-based Storage Device (OSD) Cloud Storage system based on p2p network distributed files as a block level storage system with iSCSI protocol. This coupling of designs allows the user to take advantage of the replication, reliability, scalability and large storage capacity of a Cloud Computing provider without the need for specific or dedicated hardware. Because the Cloud Storage OSD type it is also possible to do read-ahead of the iSCSI blocks and save download operations from the Cloud Storage system. This presentation shows we can use the attributes of scalability, self space management and security for block level in a Cloud Storage service based on OSD.

Enabling Object Storage via shims for Grid Middleware
The Object Store model has quickly become the basis of most commercially successful mass storage infrastructure, backing so-called ”Cloud” storage such as Amazon S3, but also underlying the implementation of most parallel distributed storage systems. Many of the assumptions in Object Store design are similar, but not identical, to concepts in the design of Grid Storage Elements, although the re...

Object stores are becoming pervasive due to their scalability and simplicity. Their broad adoption, however, contrasts with their rigidity for handling heterogeneous workloads and applications with evolving requirements, which prevents the adaptation of the system to such varied needs. In this work, we present Crystal, the first Software-Defined Storage (SDS) architecture whose core objective i...

This paper describes Olive, the first distributed block storage system to provide consistent pointin-time branching. Point-in-time branching allows users to recursively and quickly snapshot or clone the storage state. It has a wide range of applications including testing new deployments or upgrades without disrupting a running system, quickly provisioning large homogeneous systems, and preservi...
متن کاملRadio+Tuner: A Tunable Distributed Object Store
The primary reason for diversity of distributed storage systems is that no single design for a distributed storage system is cost-optimal for meeting the latency and throughput SLOs in all possible workloads. In other words, a distributed object store that satisfies the SLOs for a particular workload at minimum cost (in comparison to other object stores) will incur higher costs than alternate s...
متن کاملThe ANSI T10 object-based storage standard and current implementations
Object-based storage is the natural evolution of the block storage interface, aimed at efficiently and effectively meeting the performance, reliability, security, and service requirements demanded by current and future applications. The object-based storage interface provides an organizational container, called an object, into which higher-level software (e.g., file systems, databases, and user...
