چکیده
Dengue affects nearly 50 million people annually and specially threatens populations living in tropical regions like Sri Lanka. Based on the findings of a needs assessment of dengue management practices in Colombo, Sri Lanka, we have designed a socially mediated health information system for dengue surveillance and education. This system integrates the power of digital surveillance, digitized dengue monitoring and mapping, and digitized dengue education. We identify specific loopholes in existing workflows and describe how our system has been designed to address these, resulting in greater efficiency leading to better dengue management. The paper culminates with a discussions of lessons learned from our experiences and the next steps of our applied innovation.
