FE-Modeling of Shear Resistance Degradation in a Sand Body During Cyclic Shearing Under CNS Condition

چکیده

The behaviour of dry and cohesionless sand body in a cyclic interface shear box test under a constant normal stiffness (CNS) condition is numerically studied. Do this end finite element calculations are carried out using a micro-polar hypoplastic model, where the mean grain diameter of the sand material is used as a characteristic length of the micro-structure. The constitutive equations for the stresses and the couple stresses take also into account the effect of the evolution of the void ratio, pressure dependent relative density, direction of rate of deformation and rate of curvature. A particular attention is laid to the volumetric strain change and the degradation of the shear resistance in the course of shearing.

Effect of Boundary Condition on Pre-Existing Crack Under Fatigue Loading

In this paper, the present investigation has been conducted keeping in mind some of the problems concerning the crack propagation direction and growth under constant loading in an inclined crack geometry. The present studies mainly focused on the development and modifications in the crack growth criterion to account the biaxial, shear loading and number of stress terms. Existing criteria for th...

A New Approach for Numerical Analysis of the RC Shear Walls Based on Timoshenko Beam Theory Combined with Bar-Concrete Interaction

In this paper, a new approach for nonlinear numerical modelling of the reinforced concrete shear walls with consideration of bar-concrete interaction and shear deformation is proposed. Bar and concrete stress-strain relations, the bar-concrete interaction, the shear stress-strain relation and, also, their cyclic behavior including the strength degradation and stiffness degradation are adopted a...

The Behavior of Suction Bucket under Cyclic Loading in Saturated Lands

Numerical modeling was carried out to investigate the responses of suction bucket foundations under vertical cyclic loading. Numerical results were compared with centrifuge experiment results. Before the capacity of the model suction bucket to resist cyclic loading could be investigated, the static pullout capacities had to be determined. The buckets with different aspect ratio are investigated...

Investigation of Liquefaction Mechanism in Double Sand Lenses

In many cases of heavy earthquakes, liquefaction has resulted in serious damages. Existing anisotropy in soil layers results  in some difficulties to realize the reason for these phenomena. Loose sand lenses buried in fine soils are one of the cases which may result in these problems and as a weak point during the earthquake can cause this phenomenon. In this paper, using FLAC 2D software, doub...

Study on the Capacity Degradation of Bucket Foundation in Liquefied Sand Layer under Cyclic Loads

The capacity degradation of bucket foundation in liquefied sand layer under cyclic loads such as equivalent dynamic ice-induced loads is studied. A simplified numerical model of liquefied sand layer has been presented based on the dynamic centrifuge experiment results. The ice-induced dynamic loads are modeled as equivalent sine cyclic loads, the liquefaction degree in different position of san...
