Limit Cycles in Feedback Control Systems with Hysteresis

چکیده
The paper presents a theoretical and numerical study of the existence problem of self-sustained periodic solutions in feedback control systems including a hysteresis nonlinearity with non-local memory. The presence of this type of nonlinearity in the feedback control system can cause undesired effects, e.g. limit cycles, instability, and thus must be taken into account in the design phase of the control system. In the present work the problem is addressed by resorting to functional analysis tools and to the Preisach operator theory.Copyright c 2005 IFAC

ADAPTIVE FUZZY OUTPUT FEEDBACK TRACKING CONTROL FOR A CLASS OF NONLINEAR TIME-VARYING DELAY SYSTEMS WITH UNKNOWN BACKLASH-LIKE HYSTERESIS
This paper considers the problem of adaptive output feedback tracking control for a class of nonstrict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown time-varying delays and unknown backlash-like hysteresis. Fuzzy logic systems are used to estimate the unknown nonlinear functions. Based on the Lyapunov–Krasovskii method, the control scheme is constructed by using the backstepping and adaptive techniqu...
متن کاملDynamic bifurcations: hysteresis, scaling laws and feedback control
We review some properties of dynamical systems with slowly varying parameters, when a parameter is moved through a bifurcation point of the static system. Bifurcations with a single zero eigenvalue may create hysteresis cycles, whose area scales in a nontrivial way with the adiabatic parameter. Hopf bifurcations lead to the delayed appearance of oscillations. Feedback control theory motivates t...
متن کاملGlobal stability of relay feedback systems
For a large class of relay feedback systems (RFS) there will be limit cycle oscillations. Conditions to check existence and local stability of limit cycles for these systems are well known. Global stability conditions, however, are practically non-existent. This paper presents conditions in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that guarantee global asymptotic stability of a limit cycle...
متن کاملOn Certainty Equivalence Measurement Feedback Power Gain Control of Nonlinear Systems
Substantial classes of systems (eg. ones with dead zone nonlinearities (like gears) or hysteresis) have the property that controlling them to an equilibrium point 0 is impractical, but that controlling into some modest size R region about 0 is natural (eg. arguably compressor surge and stall). That is, a realistic goal is to design a closed loop system whose trajectories oscillate around 0, but...
متن کاملLimit cycles with chattering in relay feedback systems
Relay feedback has a large variety of applications in control engineering. Several interesting phenomena occur in simple relay systems. In this paper, scalar linear systems with relay feedback are analyzed. It is shown that a limit cycle where part of the limit cycle consists of fast relay switchings can occur. This chattering is analyzed in detail and conditions for approximating it by a slidi...
