چکیده

Structural similarity evaluation is a critical step for retrieving existing databases to find matching records for a given seismic data set. The objective is to enable the re-use of historical findings to assist exploration with new survey data. Currently there are very few structural similarity metrics specifically designed for seismic data, especially seismic survey maps. In this paper, we propose a metric that combines texture similarity and geological similarity, which is derived from discontinuity maps. We test the seismic similarity metric in a retrieval application. The successful results indicate that our approach is promising.

Migrated Exploding Reflectors in Evaluation of Finite Difference Solution for Inhomogeneous Seismic Models

Earth is inhomogeneous, which means its elastic characteristics change with depth. The seismic method employs the propagation of waves throughout the earth to locate different structures and stratigraphy. Understanding the wave propagation is an important matter in exploration seismology; therefore modeling of seismic wave is an important tool. To validate the interpreted earth model out of the...

Evaluation of Seismic Performance of Combined Horizontal and Vertical Hexagrid Structural System for High-rise Buildings

Summary In this study, the seismic performance of hexagrid structures which are composed of horizontal and vertical hexagrid by using a transitional story, has been investigated. To this end, 10 models of 50-story hexagrid structures were designed. 9 models with horizontal hexagrid cells which transited to vertical cells using a transitional story, and a model of completely horizontal hexagrid ...

Seismic Fragility Assessment of Special Truss Moment Frames (STMF) Using the Capacity Spectrum Method

Fragility curves represent the probabilities that structural damages, under various levels of seismic excitation, will exceed the specified damage states by means of earthquake intensity damage relations. Conceptual aspects related to seismic vulnerability, damage and risk evaluation are discussed first, together with a short review of the most widely used possibilities for the seismic evaluati...

Seismic Data Compression and Integrated Structural Health Monitoring System

This paper presents a new concept for an integrated structural health monitoring (SHM) system and its potential use in seismic application. The integrated SHM system incorporates sensor data compression, interactive data retrieval and structural system identification to address the challenging issues arising from current SHM practice. Since rapid data analysis is highly desired during or immedi...

Probabilistic Evaluation of Seismic Performance of RC Bridges in Iran

Many existing bridges were designed without adequate consideration of seismic risk. The full or partial collapse of even one major bridge in a city or community would have destroying results. There has been focuses on developing fragility-based seismic vulnerability of existing usual bridges in Iran or support decision making on seismic upgrade. This article focuses on developing performance b...
