چکیده
PACS. 0340K-Waves and wave propagation: general mathematical aspects. Abstract Near-soliton scanning light-beam propagation in media with both delayed-response Kerr-type and thermal nonlinearities is analyzed. The delayed-response part of the Kerr nonlinearity is shown to be competitive as compared to the thermal nonlinearity, and relevant contributions to a distortion of the soliton form and phase can be mutually compensated. This quasi-soliton beam propagation regime keeps properties of the inclined self-trapped channel.

Optical spatial solitons: historical overview and recent advances.
Solitons, nonlinear self-trapped wavepackets, have been extensively studied in many and diverse branches of physics such as optics, plasmas, condensed matter physics, fluid mechanics, particle physics and even astrophysics. Interestingly, over the past two decades, the field of solitons and related nonlinear phenomena has been substantially advanced and enriched by research and discoveries in n...
متن کاملStable Vortex Solitons and Robust Soliton Complexes in Optical Media with Competing Nonlinearities
An overview of recent results in the field of vortex (spinning) solitons and soliton complexes composed of several fundamental (nonspinning) solitons in twoand three-dimensional optical media with competing nonlinearities is presented. It is concluded that multidimensional solitons with intrinsic topological charge are stable provided that their internal size and power (energy) are large enough...
متن کاملParametric vector solitons in tetragonal crystals.
We introduce novel types of spatial vector soliton that can be generated in anisotropic optical media, such as tetragonal crystals with third-order nonlinear susceptibility. We demonstrate that these vector solitons provide a nontrivial generalization to both conventional vector solitons of birefringent cubic media and parametric solitons supported by third-order cascaded nonlinearities.
متن کاملDo solitonlike self-similar waves exist in nonlinear optical media?
We show analytically that bright and dark spatial self-similar waves can propagate in graded-index amplifiers exhibiting self-focusing or self-defocusing Kerr nonlinearities. The intensity profiles of the novel waves are identical with those of fundamental bright or dark spatial solitons supported by homogeneous passive waveguides with the same type of nonlinearity. Thus, we reveal a previously...
متن کاملPhase-dependent collisions of (211)-dimensional spatial solitons
The possibility of using spatial solitary waves for implementation of optical logic and switching has led to a number of experimental and theoretical investigations of the interactions between spatial solitons.1–8 An extensive discussion of geometrical and material alternatives for implementing optical soliton switches was given in Ref. 9. Initial experimental work in this area centered on Kerr...
