چکیده

Background Stress cardiac magnetic resonance with adenosine (CMR-A) is a valid test to rule out myocardial ischaemia. We follow-up a cohort of patients with CMR-A due to suspected myocardial ischaemia, considering patients with very high cardiovascular risk. Methods We included all patients with CMR-A between June 2009 and November 2012, considering two groups: those with a very high cardiovascular risk (prior myocardial infarction or/and Diabetes mellitus) and the rest of the patients. The follow-up was done in outpatient cardiology clinic or by

High-risk Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Mitral Valve Replacement in a HIV Positive Patient

Certain subsets of high-risk mitral valve patients are not suitable candidates for transcatheter therapies. The objective of this report is to present a young patient with combined mitral valve and coronary artery disease to illustrate these challenges. In this report, we present a 47-year-old man with longstanding HIV infection who was referred with severe mitral regurgitation (MR) and profound...

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...

Prognostic value of adenosine stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance in patients with low-risk chest pain

BACKGROUND Approximately 5% of patients with an acute coronary syndrome are discharged from the emergency room with an erroneous diagnosis of non-cardiac chest pain. Highly accurate non-invasive stress imaging is valuable for assessment of low-risk chest pain patients to prevent these errors. Adenosine stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (AS-CMR) is an imaging modality with increasing appl...

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy in human cardiomyopathies.

Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) can noninvasively provide a window into the metabolic status of the heart. This technique has shown abnormalities in the phosphocreatine-to-adenosine triphosphate ratio in patients with severe cardiomyopathies, either dilated or hypertrophic. Data indicate that abnormal metabolic parameters can risk stratify patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and provide ...

Risk stratification by adenosine stress cardiac magnetic resonance in patients with coronary artery stenoses of intermediate angiographic severity.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to determine the role of adenosine stress cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) for risk stratification in patients with coronary artery stenoses of intermediate angiographic severity. BACKGROUND Coronary angiography only provides a morphological description of coronary lesions. As the patient's prognosis is closely related to the functional significance of...
