چکیده

Interferon inducers are generally most effective as antiviral agents when used prophylactically. One possible explanation for this is that animals develop a state of hyporeactivity during the course of a virus infection. Such a progressive loss of capacity to produce interferon was observed with a representative group of interferon-inducing agents (polyinosinic-cytidylic acid, Tilorone hydrochloride, Newcastle disease virus, or a strain of encephalomyocarditis virus) during the course of a model picornavirus infection in mice.

Mycoplasma-mediated hyporeactivity to various interferon inducers.

Three strains of Mycoplasma arthritidis were shown to induce marked hyporeactivity in mice to interferon induction by both Newcastle disease virus and poly(I:C). In contrast, the interferon response of mice to tilorone was only partially suppressed by pretreatment of the animals with mycoplasms. Hyporeactivity to Newcastle disease virus was maximal 1 and 3 days after mycoplasms treatment, but t...

Hyporeactivity to interferon induction: characterization of a hyporeactive factor in the serum of encephalomyocarditis virus-infected mice.

Mice infected with encephalomyocarditis virus develop a severe state of hyporeactivity to interferon induction. One mechanisms possibly responsibile for development of hyporesponsiveness in these animals is a circulating factor which can be detected in their serum 96 h after encephalomyocarditis virus infection (at the time of peak hyporeactivity in vivo). This report describes some of the phys...

Effect of Separate and Combined Injections of Poly rI: Poly rC and Endotoxin on Reticulo-endothelial Activity, Interferon, and Antibody Production in the Mouse.

The effect of repeated stimulation on both the interferon and antibody systems and on reticuloendothelial activity was studied by injection of endotoxin 2 days before injection of (poly rI):(poly rC). A single injection of endotoxin or (poly rI):(poly rC) increased or decreased the response in each system depending on the time of administration. If the injection of (poly rI):(poly rC) was prece...

An investigation of the mechanisms underlying hypotension and vascular hyporeactivity in septic shock by Alastair O ’ Brien

Septic shock is a common condition carrying a high mortality. The clinical features are a high cardiac output circulation with hypotension and vascular hyporeactivity and evidence of organ failure. I developed an organ culture in vitro model and a fluid-resuscitated in vivo model of sepsis to investigate potential underlying mechanisms for the vascular hyporeactivity, namely inducible nitric ox...

RhoA/Rho-Kinase and Nitric Oxide in Vascular Reactivity in Rats with Endotoxaemia

RhoA/Rho-kinase (RhoA/ROK) pathway promotes vasoconstriction by calcium sensitivity mechanism. LPS causes nitric oxide (NO) overproduction to induce vascular hyporeactivity. Thus, we tried to examine the role of RhoA/ROK and NO in the regulation of vascular reactivity in different time-point of endotoxaemia. Male Wistar rats were intravenously infused for 10 min with saline or E. coli endotoxin...
