Histopathology of Heart Block Complicating

چکیده
Histopathological studies of the conduction system were related to His bundle electrogram recordings in seven patients with acute myocardial infarction and atrioventricular (A-V) conduction disturbances. The three patients with inferior infarctions had normal width QRS complexes and delay or block of the impulses above the His bundle. Recent ischemic changes were present in the A-V node in two cases and in the distal conduction system in all three cases. In the four patients with antero-septal infarction and right bundle branch block (RBBB), either the H-V interval was prolonged or block was present below the H spike. The A-H interval was normal in each of these cases, and the A-V node was not affected by the recent infarction. The right bundle branch was involved in all four of these cases and two patients also had involvement of the left bundle branch. In general there was a good correlation between the sites of heart block as defined by the His bundle electrogram and the histopathological analysis of the cardiac conduction

Heart block in posterior and anterior myocardial infarction.
Recent studies involving continuous electrocardiographic monitoring of patients with acute myocardial infarction have shown that second degree atrioventricular (AV) block occurs in 3-5 to 10 per cent, and third degree block in 2-5 to 8 per cent of patients (Meltzer and Kitchell, 1966). Since the outcome of complete heart block complicating infarction is uncertain (Paulk and Hurst, 1966), it has...
متن کاملPrognostic Value of Soluble ST2 (sST2) Serum Levels in Infants and Children with Heart Failure Complicating Congenital Heart Disease
Background Heart failure (HF) in infants and children with congenital heart disease (CHD) is a crucial complication with different outcomes. Many biomarkers are used as prognostic indicators. Soluble ST2 (sST2) is one of these markers studied in adults with HF. We aimed to study the prognostic value of sST2 in CHD children with HF. Materials and Methods In current case-control study, thirty-six...
متن کاملSuccessful Vaginal Delivery despite a Huge Ovarian Mucinous Cystadenoma Complicating Pregnancy: A Case Report
A 22-year-old patient with 9 months of amenorrhea and a huge abdominal swelling was admitted to our institution with an ultrasonography report of a multiloculated cystic space-occupying lesion, almost taking up the whole abdomen (probably of ovarian origin), along with a single live intrauterine fetus. She delivered vaginally a boy baby within 4 hours of admission without any maternal complicat...
متن کاملHeart block complicating acute inferior wall myocardial infarction.
Heart block was noted in 60 (35 complete and 25 second-degree) of 410 patients with acute inferior wall myocardial infarction. This group with heart block was compared to a control group of 30 patients with acute inferior wall infarction without heart block. The incidences of prior myocardial infarction and hypertension, in addition to the highest level of serum creatine phosphokinase and a max...
متن کاملArtificial pacing in management of complete heart block complicating acute myocaerdial infarction.
Complete heart block complicates approximately 6 to 8% of cases of acute myocardial infarction and is associated with a high mortality (Julian et al., 1964 ; Meltzer, 1967 ; Siddons and Sowton, 1967). In some patients death may be due to coexistent severe myocardial damage rather than to a complication of heart block itself, but in others it can be attributed to ventricular asystole or severe b...
