چکیده
Through the detection of acute inflammation, edema, and fibrosis, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging provides a complete and safe evaluation of the myocardium in Churg-Strauss disease and is a useful tool for following the disease course.

Cardiac involvement in Churg-Strauss syndrome.
OBJECTIVE Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a rare form of systemic vasculitis. Previous studies showing cardiac involvement in CSS patients were limited in the number of patients and were often based solely on clinical manifestations. The aim of the present study was to determine in detail the incidence of cardiac involvement in a large population of ambulatory CSS patients. METHODS Thirty-two...

Cardiac involvement in Churg Strauss Syndrome is common and a poor prognostic indicator. Myocarditis in Churg Strauss Syndrome can present in different ways. It has been shown that basic cardiac investigations including echocardiography can be normal even in symptomatic patients. More recently cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been shown to be more sensitive in its diagnosis. Our cas...
متن کاملCardiac involvement in hypereosinophilic syndromes detected by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Background The Hypereosinophilic Syndromes (HES) are a heterogeneous group of rare diseases characterized by blood hypereosinophilia and eosinophil-related organ damage with the Churg-Strauss syndrome as the vasculitic form of disease. Cardiac involvement was reported in 20-50% in earlier series. Yet, with improved diagnostic methods, the frequency of cardiac involvement is expected to be even ...
متن کاملImpact of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for assessment of Churg-Strauss syndrome: a cross-sectional study in 20 patients.
OBJECTIVE To examine the diagnostic contributions of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) with delayed-enhancement (DE) in patients with Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS). METHODS We consecutively recruited 14 men and 6 women (mean age: 50+/-14 years) with CSS (mean disease duration: 4.5+/-3.6 years) and investigated them independently of the presence/absence of cardiac manifestations. Cardia...
متن کاملCardiac Involvement of Churg-Strauss Syndrome as a Reversible Cause of Dilated Cardiomyopathy
A 31-year-old male who had been treated for Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) presented with sudden onset of dysarthria. Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed acute multifocal bilateral cerebral infarctions suggesting embolic causes. Cardiac MRI showed dilated cardiomyopathy with severe biventricular dysfunction with intracardiac thrombi, and multiple high signal intensity spots in myocardiu...
